About
Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.
A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.
Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.
Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

Nice Round of Golf
Course was in excellent shape despite recent rains. Greens were in perfect condition. Enjoyed the course layout - challenging but not overly hard, some risk/reward holes. Staff was very friendly.
Must play in Hilton Head
The wife and I come to Hilton Head once a year for golf and beaches, hh national hh country club and bear creek are must plays

Very nice course from clubhouse to greens, if you're in the area play this one.
Great Experience
I played HH National on a rainy day. I thought the course would be sloppy but it had drained well and the conditions were great. Was cart path only but that was understandable. The rain kept most golfers away so I played as a single and finished 18 holes in just over 2 hours. A great experience all around. I’ll be back.
Great time playing HHN
We really enjoyed this course. Pace of play was great. Starter was attentive and kept us informed about a slow group ahead of us. Will definitely play again on our next trip to HHI. The only slight complaint was the rough. A bit hard to get out of - stay out of that stuff. Lol!
Definitely worth it
Course is in excellent condition and obviously very well maintained. Great course lay out and the greens are tough to a poorly made approach. Will definitely play again
Great Course
From beginning to end, a great round of golf! Friendly and welcoming staff, course Marshall’s were cordial and outgoing, the course itself was well cared for, in terrific shape, small But fair greens added to the level of difficulty. Covid-19 had the restaurant offerings limited (pretty standard in these strange times) but the waitress was charming! Awesome outing!! Thank you so much!
Best greens
All the courses I played in HH had beautiful layouts and great conditions tee to green. This is aeration season though and most courses won’t give you a true update on green conditions. HH National had perfect greens rolling at 10 or 11 with perfectly cut cups. Tour quality cups. Other courses didn’t come close. This course is a must play. Choose the correct tees for your game though or it will be a long day. Course is pretty difficult.
Beautiful course
We had a wonderful day beautifully manicured and well-kept course. The greens were perfect for consistent putting and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys quality golf.
Awesome course
Drove from Atlanta just to Introduce this course to my friend. I played it for the first time the prior weekend. and each time Was worth the drive
Felt like a private course
This course was in fantastic condition with fast greens, perfect fairways and tee boxes

Played in 3 1/2 hours. Exceptional condition course. Compares with any TPC course. Good value for the price.
Best public course I have played in years
Simply a great experience on a great course. Top shape Tee boxes, Fairways, Greens and more. Staff was awesome and just had an all around great first visit. Will be back and expect to bring friends.

Hot day with fast pace of play
The course was discounted by about $20 due to later tee time. The staff was exceptional and courteous. The pace of play was fantastic as demand was between peaks. There were two in my party and we enjoyed a fun day while gaining experience in the heat. I recommend bringing extra towels and plenty of hydration for a round. The course was in excellent condition. The greens were challenging for me due to their speed. My home course is more links style and the greens at home much slower. I highly recommend this course for the value and friendly attentive services. We usually plan an annual trip to Hilton Head and we will definitely be back.
