Length 6580 yards

Rating 72.1

Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.

A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.

Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.

Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

A definate must play if you are in Hilton Head!!!

Course and staff were very accommodating and friendly. Course was in excellent shape and greens were fast and true. This was the third of three days that I played during my visit to HH and it was by far the best course in the area. I tip my visor to Gary Player for finding such a gem. I will absolutely play it again on my next visit.

Amazing Value and Customer Service

This Golf Course is in fantastic shape and for the money it's the best in the Hilton Head Area in my opinion. The greens are in amazing shape and each hole has a great view and has great playability. I happened to leave my Costa sunglasses in my cart and they were at the front desk the next day. Very honest and classy place to book a round or two. I will be playing here for years to come. There aren't enough good things to say about the course condition and friendly staff.

Favorite course on HHI

Played September 6th, first group out in the morning. Even after a good rain the previous day, course was in great shape! Smooth greens, plush fairways, raked bunkers. No houses lining this course. It is always nice to play a course which is not bordered by houses on every hole. My favorite course on HHI. Can' t wait to play it again.

Good Variety

I always enjoy playing at the national, just enough variety and tee locations for different playing levels. The greens were in great shape, rolling true and very consistent.
I will come back and play for sure.

Slow play

Played this course on August 24th in the morning , after heavy rains at night and course was in fantastic shape. Cart Paths only.Greens ran true fairways or plush with no burnout. This layout is player friendly with nothing hidden in front, no guesswork with the GPS in the cart a plus. This would of been a fantastic golfing experience if we didn't have to WAIT on EVERY shot. Play was sooooooooooooooo SLOW.

Good course, good condtion

This is a fun course. It was in great condition the day I played. Greens putted well, although I had trouble reading the breaks...my fault, not the greens. Fairways were very nice, easy to hit from. Rough was definitely there, but not so tough that you couldn't get out and advance the ball.

MUST PLAY!!!!

Wow!!! If your any where close to Hilton Head it's a must play. First when you get close don't follow the gps follow the sign with arrow. You'll figure that one out. From the T to the Green this course is excellent. They do have a beverage cart compared to others. Marshall's do roam a little to much and can get in your line of site at the most inopportune time! But they keep the pace of play moving so enjoy the course.

One of the best in HHI

Truly a unique course for HHI Plays more like an inland course in GA than an island course. Impeccable course condition, no houses, no OB, and nice driving range. The staff was incredibly friendly. The only downside was that they had a lot of rangers posted around the course but none of them said anything to the slow threesome two groups up that was holding up the pace of play. I would recommend this course for anyone that is tired of the usual fare in courses in HHI.

Excellent greens

Greens are in great shape and played consistent across the course. Overall course in great condition. Looks like fairways getting ready for aeration as we noticed that happening on a hole as we finished 18 on aug 10. Check on that before booking. Prior to that very pleased with conditions and value.

Nice Looking and Playable

There are no houses surrounding the holes which is unusual in Hilton Head. This really improves the ambiance. As expected, from a Gary Player design, the course is not overly difficult, but just challenging enough. There is less water in play than most area courses. I will go back for sure.

nice start to a week of golf

Course is in great shape. Not very busy. Starter could have spaced the groups a little better. Marshal needed to Crack the whip on a few foursomes. Would play again.

Very nice course

Great layout; nice greens, fairways and tee boxes... Challenging but very playable... A scratch golfer will like it and it is still conducive for a beginner.

Great Value, Great Experience Overall

Everything about our experience at HHN was very satisfying. We were running late for our tee time, not a problem. They still gave us a few minutes to warm up at the very nice practice range and putting green right next to the Starter's booth. The friendly starter paired us up with a compatible single and gave clear, concise instructions and directions for play. Course was challenging and well maintained. Fairways were generously wide, but there were lots of traps and woods to get into if you wandered off of them. The wooded areas had been cleaned out fairly well, so we found most of our shots that went in there. Pace of play was great - 3.5 to 4 hours. I would gladly play here again.
