Hilton Head National Golf Club
About
Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.
A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.
Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.
Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

Great course
This is a great course to play. It's a little shorter than others in the area but the challenging greens make up for the shorter track. New gps on all carts allow staff to track pace of play and suggest to move accordingly. Prices are not too heavily discounted. Nice practice facility.
Well kept, challenging but manageable
Highly recommend, especially for those who like tight holes
Very happy with the course despite the weather.
The weather was not great. We got rained out after 10 holes. Notwithstanding that, I was paired up with three great guys. The staff made the most of the day. The pro shop manager even made lunch for us. Outstanding service. I am looking forward to playing this course again on a better day.
Needs 1 more Tee Box on Par 4's & 5's
Play it forward is only relevant if you have the correct tee boxes in place. If you have Senior Male Players who can only drive the ball 175 to 200 yds. on average, then they need to play from the present ladies tee's. Which means new Lady tee's need to be installed another 25 to 30 yds. in front of them.
Let's face the facts that for Senior Men & Women par 4's should all be under 300 yds and par 5's under 400. Let's make it fun, and who can have fun when your hitting driver, three wood for second shots all day ! Everyone should have a chance to hit 7 I to PW to most of the greeens. Men are not going to hit from Lady tee boxes, so let's make another Lady tee box in front of the present and call it Super Senior.
New golf carts-ugh!
Environmentally-friendly electric carts w/GPS. The cart dies when you go on the fairway of Par 3's, into the woods, or past the carts exit here sign near the green. That's OK. Problem is, bad GPS coordinates stop you sometimes AFTER you are deep into the woods or 10 yds short of the keep carts off sign at the greens. I understand the beauty of using GPS, but they do not have it right yet-hope they do in the future.
Great Day of golf
Perfect weather for golf, course in very good winter shape, greens fast and smooth, friendly staff, what is not to love. This course will be at the top of my list on future trips to this area.
Great course layout
The course was in excellent condition. I would highly recommend playing it if you have a chance.
Hilton Head National
Started with 30 minute frost delay. Once we started course was fair and fun. Pace of play was excellent. Greens played a little slow but putted very true. Will definitely play here again.
Nice challenge
The course was in very good shape. It was not prime season so we were able to play at a great pace. The course was not as hard as I anticipated but still challenging. We had a wonderful day.
Friendly staff and a well maintained facility
Bitsy was great. Pro shop staff and bag drop attendant were very good as well!
A Golfer's Dream Come True
This course met all my expectations! Beautiful low country scenery. Fairways that are not lined with homes. Lots of wildlife, especially birds.
Tees are situated so that all golfers should be satisfied. Just play the ones suited for your game.
Greens are wonderful! Fairways are wide enough to make most golfers comfortable. Bunkers are easily avoidable with careful shot selection. If you should find one, the sand is great! Water really isn't a factor.
No forced carries or hidden hazards.
The Starter is great! He must have heard us telling another twosome to go ahead of us so we wouldn't slow them down. They had an afternoon tee time on a nearby course. He started us as a foursome on ten. We had no one following us for 17 holes! Absolute heaven! We played 18 in just under 4 hours.
Great course
The course was in great shape. The greens were particularly the best feature for this time of year. They were in great condition.
Top Course
Lovely course in great condition given the cold weather and tough Fall. Reminded me of courses back home in Australia. Would highly recommend this course as a must play at Hilton Head.
HHN
Had a great time in great weather at a great course...
awesome Course
I would put this course on my must play again list the next time I am in Hilton Head. It was in excellent condition from tee to green. The staff was very helpful and professional. The course is very playable for any skill level but can kick your butt if you don't pay attention.
Nice layout and conditions
HH National is a nice place to go play a round of golf. The scenery is nice and the course conditions were great. The greens and fairways are in good shape and provide the player a nice experience. The greens rolled fast but not so fast that they weren't fun. The staff was very courteous and were eager to be of help. I would definitely play here again.
Very good course
Nice green, fairways and layout. We pay 18 holes in 4 hrs. Normal pace.
Good location with easy access.
Fun and fair course to play with couples. Had a wonderful time and the staff were very accomadating and polite. Will be back to enjoy again soon.
Beautiful course
The course was in perfect condition when I played. I selected an 8:30 tee time from golfnow. Love this course. It has no houses or condos built around it to spoil the view. This is a must play if you're in the area.
An enjoyable experience
The course was in really good condition. Greens rolled true without a lot of break. Played the whites with a friendly couple from the South. There is water to be avoided but not a big problem if you use the whole fairway. Several holes protected by bunkers and narrow approaches. A fun and relaxing afternoon.
