The Wizard Golf Course

Played on 3/14. Round took 4 hours and 10 mins. Overall not bad. Conditions were excellent. They had really been watering the grounds, I assume due to the close proximity of the wild fires in Carolina Forest. Back 9 seemed a little dryer, but that could just be from being mid morning. Greens rolled true and were in great shape. Sneaky creeks crossed many of the fairways that you couldn't see from the tees. Enjoyable round!

While the course was in overall good condition for February, I do think it was considerably overpriced. Very slow play as well. 5 hour round.

Good value. Greens were recently punched so bumpy putting for sure. Came with a coupon for a couple of beer and hot dog.

The day was extremely cold with overcast skies and strong winds

The greens had been aerated and have not filled in yet so putting was an adventure

The rest of the course was in good shape\

Just a tough cold, windy golf day

The round was fast 1-4:30 pm with free lunch hot dogs & drinks. Unfortunately the aeration of the greens affected putting but a good days golfing

The course was way to wet to play properly due to excessive over watering

Standing water in the middle of every fairway

This was unusual as the course is generally in great shape

The course is nice but this round was sloppy wet and cart path only but not from rain but over watering over seeded fairways. We should have went elsewhere

Bag drop and snack bar staff were nice but pro shop guy was a major jerk. I booked a 1 pm tee time as a single. It wasn’t busy at all but he wouldn’t let me go early or by myself. I wanted to hit the road early since I had a 3 hr drive after golf. He said it would cost $20 to go earlier. I looked up earlier tee times on GN and they cost only $4 more. Still he was defiant and rude. So I left and went to MBN Kings North where I spent $40+ on food and drinks that I would’ve otherwise spent at The Wizard. No wonder why The Wizard is targeted for redevelopment into a subdivision.

We enjoyed the course. Conditioning was very good, but did notice that, due to wet, soggy spots on some fairways maybe indicated some drainage issues. I had recently purchased 4 new hybrid clubs and was eager to try them on the driving range. However, due to the accumulated dirt on the range balls, I noted some scoring on the faces of my new clubs. I was disappointed to note this, noting that the appearance of the balls indicated that any cleaning process used was not very effective. There were perks offered. Lunch/2 beverages, and a proshop coupon. I would play this course again if the opportunity presents, however, I would avoid using the range due to issue noted.

Great day at the Wizard. Greens were smooth and fast, didn’t wait once. Straightforward layout.
