Rating 75.2

The Country Club of Hilton Head rambles over a variety of terrain, including rolling, open expanses, pine and oak woodlands and freshwater ponds and marshlands. Each hole is distinctive, as a golfer must negotiate water hazards, contoured fairways, pot bunkers and sculpted bunkers, and grass hollows. This facility features constant elevation tees, landing areas and greens, as well as the only punch bowl-shaped green in the area. The Country Club of Hilton Head layout also features 3 doglegs, undulating and tiered greens and two par-5's that stretch more than 575 yards in length. An excellent, fair test of golf for all skill levels.

Decent value

Good condition despite a lot of rain in the area prior to play, Had an 8:04 am tee time, arrived at 725 am and no attendant for bags, and no food available. Staff was nice and gave me free range balls since there was no food available. Good pace of play and course conditions. Pace of play was likely due to early tee tim. Finished in 3.5 hours but course was packed by the time I was done. Overall good value.

Some of the best greens

Practice facilities were fantastic. Greens were some of the best on the entire island. Course layout was challenging and the views were amazing. Highly recommend this course.

Fun Course, Good Conditions

I have played the Country Club of Hilton Head a several times and each time I really like the course.

They have one of the best practice facility of all the courses we played (driving range, chipping area, practice bunker, putting green, etc.) on the island.

The biggest draw back is that each time I have played, the snack bar is never open. They have a beverage cart that you see a few times around, but the snack bar is never open in order to get food and drinks at the turn.

Make sure to take some food with you if you want to eat at all during your round.

Fun course in great shape

My wife and I only played 9 holes here but it was a fun course in great shape. We'll likely go back next week. If you stay out of the water and sand traps you can score well here. Staff was friendly.

Normally Great Course - Only 9 holes are open for play

I have played the Country Club of Hilton Head a couple times and each time I really liked the course.

However, when we arrived a the course today they told us that only the first nine holes are available for play as holes 10 - 18 are closed as they are doing some work on the course. Nobody told us any thing about only having nine holes open for play when I made our tee times.

The first nine holes were in excellent condition from tee to green.

They have the best practice facility of all the courses we played (driving range, chipping area, practice bunker, putting green, etc.) on the island. The course layout was very good and challenging. There were several forced carries over water, but everyone of them were fair and also very pretty.

The tee boxes, fairways and greens (nine holes) were in very good condition. The greens were quick and smooth (VERY FEW non-repaired ball marks) with lots of undulations and slopes. All the bunkers were full of soft, fluffy, beach sand.

I would highly recommend you go play the course, except be prepared for only nine holes.

The biggest draw back was that there was no food available. The snack bar was closed and the beverage cart broke down so there was not a beverage cart. For that reason, I rated the course as average because it is the middle of August and VERY hot but no drinks, beverage cart of snack bar to be able to purchase drinks or get a cooler in order to keep your drinks cold.

need a guide

Not a straight forward round. Much better if you can play with someone who knows the course. I played with a member so I knew where to hit as the holes are not straight away.
