Country Club of Hilton Head
About
The Country Club of Hilton Head rambles over a variety of terrain, including rolling, open expanses, pine and oak woodlands and freshwater ponds and marshlands. Each hole is distinctive, as a golfer must negotiate water hazards, contoured fairways, pot bunkers and sculpted bunkers, and grass hollows. This facility features constant elevation tees, landing areas and greens, as well as the only punch bowl-shaped green in the area. The Country Club of Hilton Head layout also features 3 doglegs, undulating and tiered greens and two par-5's that stretch more than 575 yards in length. An excellent, fair test of golf for all skill levels.

Fun layout with good conditions.
This was our first time playing CC of HH it won't be the last. My new favorite in the Hilton Head plantation. Very nice layout with a little wider fairways than most low country tracks. Good variety of holes with some nice marsh and water views.
Overall pretty good conditions as well.
Friendly staff. Can't wait to go back.
Phenomal Course
This is truly one of the nicest courses I've ever played. Every blade of grass was in perfect condition. A fun, challenging course without all of the gimmicks you see elsewhere around HH. Do yourself a favor and hit the beach in the morning and then snag an affordable afternoon tee time off Golfnow during your vacation and thank me later.
Awesome Corse in GREAT condition
My friend played six different courses in Hilton Head over the week and the Country Club of Hilton Head was by far our favorite course we played.
Course was in excellent condition from tee to green. They have the best practice facility of all the courses we played (driving range, chipping area, practice bunker, putting green, etc.). The course layout was very good and challenging. I loved the routing of the course. There were several forced carries over water, but everyone of them were fair and also very pretty. There are lots of very pretty golf holes and several holes with very pretty views of the water and marsh area.
The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in pristine condition. I loved the greens. They were quick and smooth (VERY FEW non-repaired ball marks) with lots of undulations and slopes. All the bunkers were full of soft, fluffy, beach sand.
I would highly recommend you go play the course.
Great course with great staff.
Friend of mine and I went down to HH to play 3 courses. CC of HH was our last stop. We are members of Clubcorp in Charlotte, so the club is part of our network. We paid very little since a part of the network, but this course is worth $100 plus. Course was in really good shape from tee to green. Very nice practice facility. Layout was very good and challenging. A LOT of force carry over water or marsh (but I did not lose a ball). Couple holes with really nice views. Watch out for the gators! Saw 4.
The guy that said the staff was the worst? Don’t know what course he went to. Staff was excellent from bag drop to proshop to marshalls to cart guys at the end of the round. Could not be nicer or more professional. Did not hit the bar or restaurant but really nice half way house. Water machines on course did taste a little funky, but coolers were good. Good day overall, highly recommend.
Extremely slow play
Played on a weekday afternoon and it took 5 hours to play. The 3 some infront of us was extremely slow, the ranger did nothing and we waited, as a foursome, on almost every hole. They say on the cart to play in 4 hours. Although the course was great the experience was not.
Fair course; Poor service; Stuck-up Member
I found this course and made this tee time through Military Tee Times. I chose this course based on some of the reviews and the fact that it was listed as a premier member. From the moment we entered the club, from bag drop until we left, the membership of the club had a stuck-up air about them and made it very clear that they were not interested in having us play at their club or use their facilities. When we, my wife and I, checked in they didn't recognize or know what Military Tee Times was or that military personnel were being given discounts at their club. (While the staff had a better attitude than the members, it wasn't that much better, and we didn't get a welcoming feeling while we were there.) The course was in good shape, but the greens were terrible. You could see every different hole position for the last two dozen pin placements, which made the greens rough. The players were stacked at about 6-8 minute intervals with walkers mixed in with carts, which slowed the pace of play. And the maintenance staff would hold players up to perform their duties even when they could see that the hole was backed up. While the price was excellent; the experience was terrible! I definitely would not recommend this course to anyone. And I don't know how it is listed as a premier member.
Course in better shape than most
In HH for a month and HHCC was a treat to play. Greens were smooth and consistent. Fairways were well maintained. Enjoyed our round and will return.
Great course. Horrible staff
The course is great.
The staff not so much.
Nobody at bag drop. No biggie.
But, the front desk at pro shop doesn’t want you there. Could not have been ruder. And I bought a shirt !
My guess is that this is a private club that allows public play. Your not allowed to use locker room etc. had to ask where I was allowed to use bathroom. “members only” signs everywhere.
course was worth it though. Good practice facilities. Get some thick skin and realize your just a “guest” at their club and you’ll enjoy a great layout.
put this one on your list
Was advised by a local to play this course. Outstanding value. Beautiful course, A must play.
Avid Golfer
Excellent course. Greens fantastic. Fast and true. Course is in very nice condition. Interesting layout and good challenge. Very picturesque. Country Club feel. Professional staff. Terrific practice range.
Where's the Rangers
Front nine was extremely slow........... No Rangers in sight. 2 groups in front of us quit after 9 so we finished back 9 in less than 2 hours.
Course Needs water
This is an excellent course, but at this time, it is a little early in the season and it needs water to get the fairways back. Very thin grass and a lot of very tight lies. You are better off in the rough, which is very light, but the ball sits up a bit. The greens were in very good shape and rolled very nice. Approach shots will not hold well as the greens are very firm. The course is listed at 6100 yrds + from the white as it always was, but they have cheated the tees up and it plays quite short now. Probably plays about 5800 from the white, which is about right considering many senior members. Play the Blue tees if you drive the ball over 200 yrds or are under 15 handicap. Excellent course when the spring and summer come.
Good layout and conditions
Good:
Layout (every hole has dogleg except par 3s
Condition . Green is slower after recent top dressed with sands
Friendly staff
Playability. Not too tight. Back 9 is more open. Lots of water hazards but not all in play. Forced Carey's are reasonable.
Bunkers are in good conditions. Sands in bunker are quite heavy and packed.
Green fee s are reasonable.
We did not eat there but the change room was tidy and clean.
Areas for improvement:
I cannot think of any.
We like this course.
We love this course
This is a wonderful facility.
Great course, and the friendliest staff anywhere on the island
Great Course
Can't give a complete review as we only played the back 9. But it was a very enjoyable experience. The weather was not the best; windy and only around 60. Greens were in great shape and the sand traps were too. I think I was in most of them. An absolutely beautiful clubhouse. The starter ( can't remember his name ) was super friendly and helpful. Will return as this course is as nice as any in the area.
