For years, the King's North Course at Myrtle Beach National has been the most requested and best recognized golf course on the Grand Strand. The par-3, third hole with its island green and South Carolina-shaped sandtraps has become the signature hole for Myrtle Beach. King's North features some dramatic and unique holes. The par-5 sixth hole is nicknamed "The Gambler" and features an unusual island fairway which offers golfers a risk-reward short-cut to the green for a chance at eagle. The 18th hole, nicknamed "The Bull's-eye" by Golf Magazine, is a sight to behold. More than 40 sandtraps guard either side of the fairway and the green reaches out into a lake offering, at times, a very tempting pin placement.

great challenge!

This course is a very challenging course!! super challenging for women. Most often most of the danger is taken out of the course when you play from the front tees or up one set of tees.
course in good shape...greens were a little hard but still playable once you knew how they were going to be.
I would recommend a must play when visiting Myrtle Beach!!

Beautiful well maintained golf course

What a great golf course. Greens are FAST and a ton of target golf shots to play. Play the blue tees if you are a 15 or less. Whites were too short on the par 3's especially.

Awesome course but drenched

This is just an awesome golf course. I've played a lot of courses in the Myrtle Beach area and I think King's North and South Creek might be my two favorites. That being said, the course is drenched. There was standing water on a lot of fairways and don't expect much roll on your drives. There were some people ahead of us who packed it back in and the course was mostly empty. There has been A TON of rain this summer in Myrtle, not much the course can do about that.

I would love to play here again when Mother Nature takes it easy on the place.

Had fun but with the weather here this year I would say this place needs help.

Had fun but with the weather here this year I would say this place needs help.
Pro shop area under construction, this is not noted on the website.
Greens could use some help Alot of sand on them.
Fairways were being mowed while we were playing, there was a lot of grass clumps everywhere.

Over all it was just fair, but a day of golf is always a good day, in my book.

Challenging but enjotable course. Did not feel tired after the round.

The staff was helpful and friendly from the moment I pulled up at the bag drop. We were the first group out and never saw the group behind us. Some fairways were damp in spots but the course was in great shape and the greens rolled true. I would recommend the course and look forward to playing it again.

Great layout.

The good:
I loved the layout of this course! There were a lot of risk/reward opportunities off the tee boxes where you could cut the distance off of doglegs. It was pristine even in the first weekend of August. The tee times were spaced out by 30 minutes so the pace of play was unbelievable for a Myrtle Beach course where I am used to waiting on every tee box. Plenty of opportunity to get a cold drink or snack from cart girls.

The bad: not sure if it was drainage issues with the course or if Myrtle Beach has just been swamped this year with rain, but we had to play cart path only in 90 degree heat with high humidity. The wet fairways made for some tricky iron shots where you had to be careful not to make a 18 inch divot! It was exhausting playing cart path only in such heat.

Overall: I thought the layout of this course was definitely worth the $75 green fees.

Always one of my favorite MB courses to play! I try to play everytime I visit MB.

The new greens are in great shape. Fairways were immaculate and understandably a little wet, but you can't blame mother nature on the course conditions. Great layout! Challenging shots that offer rewards and risks!

A great course in its day.

The greens were top dressed earlier in the week and there was not a marshall anywhere in sight to keep the pace of play moving.

beautiful course with many challenging holes but fun to play as well

I played this course Sunday morning between thunderstorms. was able to finish in less than 3hrs since I played by myself and the rainy weather meant fewer players.
I was surprised that you had to pay almost a 10% tax.with the quoted golf now rate.
The greens were just punched and did not get any rate reduction for that., not cool.
I'm glad I played it once now,but do not think it merits the high price for repeat play at same rate.
The 6th hole gambler was as advertised, challenging. I took a mulligan but got on edge of green in two..

Overall not as challenging as I thought, any one with a handicap under 22 can play well here.

The best course we played for the week.

I booked my vacation golf tee times via Golf Now and got great prices, including MBN - Kings North. A great layout with lots of water, waste bunkers, "Cousin It" grass, a few risk/reward designed holes and challenging greens with no shortages of ridges and undulations. This course was an absolute blast to play! I will play this course each and every time I find myself any where near Myrtle Beach.

A lot of water holes and challenging shots.

The course was in great condition. I found it very tough if you weren't on your game. A lot of water, but beautiful holes. The "Gambler" definitely challenges you to go for eagle, but be careful. You need two good shots to pull it off.

Great layout. No reflectors on pins for laser rangefinders and greens were very hard.

Good Course with a dismissive staff and long waits!

The Pro Shop staff was not very friendly. They were not rude but not friendly. We were sent to the first tee but no starter or ranger was present. When the group in front of us moved along we went to the tee and suddenly the starter came riding up and gave us the third degree and was very irritate with us for being at the tee without consulting him even though he was nowhere to be found at that time. The worst was that the course was hosting a tournament for local pros and neither their website or Golf Now mentioned it. At the famous "Gambler" hole their were 6 groups on one hole. 1 on the green. 1 in the fairway and 4 waiting at the tee. The total time to play 7 holes was 2 hrs and 45 minutes. We called the pro shop but nothing was done. We left very upset.

very playable for a variety of handicaps

Well maintained course that was playable 24 hours after a tropical storm blew through. greens were very good and consistent. a variety of tees allows the course to be very playable for a wide variation of handicaps. Beware that there is a lot of water to negotiate.

Best Round of the Week

Played King's North...was suggested by uncle who lives in Myrtle Beach area, and was reluctant with the cost, but glad I went. Played best round of the week; course was in excellent condition...was challenging. Bag drop staff were cordial, but same could not be said at the grill. Highlight was successfully challenging the "Gambler," missing eagle by an inch. Would return to play other courses.

Awesome Time

Played the Kings North and had a Great Time. With Numerous Tee Boxes, this course can be played by all level of golfers. The course was great shape and the greens, even though recently air rated, were fast and true. The Bag Drop was overwhelmed due to the fact over 600 golfers were booked on the three courses, but they did a great job getting the golfers loaded onto carts and moving them toward the starters. Will play it again every chance I get.
