Myrtle Beach National Golf Club - King's North Course
About
For years, the King's North Course at Myrtle Beach National has been the most requested and best recognized golf course on the Grand Strand. The par-3, third hole with its island green and South Carolina-shaped sandtraps has become the signature hole for Myrtle Beach. King's North features some dramatic and unique holes. The par-5 sixth hole is nicknamed "The Gambler" and features an unusual island fairway which offers golfers a risk-reward short-cut to the green for a chance at eagle. The 18th hole, nicknamed "The Bull's-eye" by Golf Magazine, is a sight to behold. More than 40 sandtraps guard either side of the fairway and the green reaches out into a lake offering, at times, a very tempting pin placement.

North Course
Went off the back nine with my son and paired with a single. Pace of play was great and the greens were pure. Beautiful course and worth the money. Wished it was warmer but anytime you can golf with your son is priceless.
Great experience
Even on an early morning Saturday with good weather, the ranger/player assistant allowed me to play be myself going off at 810 am. My partners were delayed so they let me go. Pace of play was great on the F9. And slow on the B9. But more players fault then courses fault. Staff was great. Course was great. Waste bunkers are soft so play like a normal bunker OR hit ball first and not sand. Great experience, I would suggest to any golfer. I played from white tees. And shot 84. Please move up tees (as a course superintendent)
Very Good Challenge
Beautiful course. Well maintained. A real challenge, with many holes requiring target golf. We played with 2 locals who took the time to show us around and help with ball targets.. We would definitely play this course again.
Great Conditions
Wonderful layout and top notch conditions made for a wonderful day on the course, followed by a enjoyable cold one on the patio
Tough old style course.
Tight old school course where accuracy off the tee is key. Trees and hazards is perfects spots to force thinking and placement. Not a bombers favourite that’s for sure! Greens are great.
Horrible pace of play
Course was fabulous, absolutely loved it and definitely recommend that if you get the chance, play!!!
Only problem was they let two extremely slow foursomes go out in front of our threesome. They were not at all good, had no idea of what course etiquette was and did what they felt like.
No rangers came out to speed them along so it made for a frustrating morning.
Very scenic course. Womens tees are extremely friendly
MBN North
Course was in great shape. It was high 50s in December which wasn’t bad. Lots of green grass from over seeding. Loved the layout. Everything was perfect. Had a bit of slow play in front of us but we eventually were let through and the pace was great. Will definitely go back there. If you’re down there around now, it should be in excellent shape.
Great Course
Really enjoyed course. Great layout and in great shape. Staff were very friendly
Risk and reward
I have played several Arnold Palmer signature courses And by far this course Has got One of the nicest layouts I played. Conditions were remarkable considering it was off season. the greens ran true And we're not crazy fast. What I really liked was it gave you the option on many holes Of going for it or playing safe.
Awesome course
Sone challenging water holes that you can go for or take the easy route which maybe the right choice. But not for me I needed to go for it. Down here for 3 days and apparently we saved the best for last.
Rainy play
Didn’t know what to expect as a first time visitor: my brother in law and I played as a twosome on a 9am tee. Arrived promptly. Clubhouse and Pro Shop great spots. Starter and all staff were friendly and helpful. I rented a bag and it was affordable. Got to play with brand new clubs even though I forgot to call ahead. The course was in great shape. It started to heavy rain and lasted for maybe 2 holes. By the time we got to the next green we could already tell the course was draining really well. The rain did not affect play. Would absolutely recommend the north course to anyone. My brother and law and I are very much amateurs and the course was a fun challenge for us without feeling defeated.
Overall very nice
Staff very friendly
Course in very good shape
Nice layout lots of water that comes into play
Only negatives- 1) several twosomes including me so pace was slow , lit of waiting shot to shot
2) front nine was cart path only due to something applied to the grass - that’s always a drag
But I’d play it agsin
