Golfer Reviews
Where do I start......
This was the second time playing Man o War with a Golfnow hot deal and we received the same cold reception as the first time a year and a half ago. The starter holds you til the exact minute of your tee time even though there was a little gap.
Pace of play was great....but I can understand that because not 1 green was puttable......never seen anything like it before.
Beverage cart? They had 1 parked by the club house.
After my second bad experience there, I will not spend another dime at that place, especially when they do not inform you about the state of the greens and charge over 50 bucks a player
Greens need HELP
Course and fairways are nice. Greens are horrible. If they took care of the greens like they do the fairway this would be a great course. Fix the greens.
Man Of War
Everything except the greens was good. The greens had many bald spots and were difficult to put on.
Greens?!?!?
Worst greens I’ve ever try to put on and still got charged $50 bucks
Greens of War
Great place but they have lost the greens, go next store to the Wizard until the greens recover…
We still had a great time and staff was accommodating, we will return next year to give it another try.
The course has a great layout. The fairways were in good shape. The pace of play was good. The staff was friendly. The greens were horrible. There was absolutely no grass on the greens. I don't know if the summer heat, or the winter freeze killed them, but they were completely gone. I would think a prospective player should be made aware of extreme greens condition before booking,
Greens were in bad shape.
Have played Man O War multiple times over the years. Never seems to change, which is good, but the greens were in terrible shape on this visit. Every Course needs to aerate but this was a combination of aerated greens and what looked like damage or disease on every hole. Nice course, but we would have played elsewhere if we had known about this.
The greens need a complete overhaul
When pulling up to the course I was really excited to play because everything was so green when other courses in the area have dormant grass in the roughs. The fairways and rough played just as well as they looked but the greens were basically dead. Lots of green dyed sand making putting pretty much impossible. We didn't really even line up putts towards the end of our round. Don't pay regular price for this one until the greens are fixed
Greens
Got to the course and the staff was very helpful.
Teed off #1, when getting to the green found that it was aerated and void of grass. Hoping it would only be the one went onto #2, same issue, 3 to 18 same issue. No forwarning of the conditions. Staff or Golf Now should have notified the public of this problem. Sorry the course is suffering from diseased greens but fair is fair.
Aerated greens
The weather was perfect, sun hardly any wind for an exposed course that was good. However the greens were horrible, the worst some were just aerated dirt. After hitting a great shot carring water hazzard with a birdie put, disappointing.
Miserable greens
I was surprised that they kept running business with 18 fungus greens which were in terrible shape. Meanwhile, Wizard is closed due to the same fungus greens issues. Stay away for at least couple+ weeks.
Slow slow play didn’t finish the round . To much money
Great layout
I scheduled a very early tee time so that my group could catch a 3:00 flight later that day. Front nine was perfect! When we got back to the clubhouse, we were told to wait for 45 minutes before playing the back nine. Pace of play is impossible to maintain at this course with the double booking practices. Belligerent management attitude in their booking policies. This is a one and done.
Fun, Generous Course
There were a few odd things like a couple of over-waterer greens and collars (ie. plugged balls) and some un-level tee boxes . . . but other than that, this was a fun course to play, with generous fairways in spite of all the water that appeared on the scorecard. It was helpful to have a phone app with the actual course layout because the scorecard was not entirely representative.
For the most part, greens, fairways and bunkers were in excellent shape.
Pace of play was fantastic as we never waited for a single shot. We were a 9:30 threesome.
THX Man-o-War for a great round.
