Finishing up on Man O War Photo submitted by mdPzD0qY6289lECn8Hqg on 12/18/2019
Lots of water
We had a great time and the course was very enjoyable.. there are a few hidden water hazards and/or bunkers. It would have been nice to have a fps on the cart that showed distance to the various hidden hazards.
Seems to be a myrtle Beach thing, but they won’t give you the cart until 10 minutes before your tee time, and they charge for range balls. Again, that seems to be a thing here, but I’m used to being able to get my cart, go to the range and warm up. I find it frustrating that I have to walk to the range with my bag.
Greens were smooth and fast. Pace of play on the front was great. On the back it was very slow. That seems to be the way it goes when you start people off 1 and 10. When you make the turn you catch up to all the groups that started on the other nine. Again, something that is ubiquitous in the Myrtle Beach area. They really needed a Marshall as on every tee on the back nine we got to the tee before the group in front of us had teed off, and they were waiting for the people in front of them, and so on and so on. It could have been due to the water in the back nine- I think there was water in play on 7 of the nine holes.
Still we had a great day in perfect weather and would play here again.
Awesome
Awesome course, well kept with killer views, will 1000 percent be back.
Great shape, didn’t like how course was double booked
Got the earliest tee time in order to play quickly 7:32am. Started told us he was sending groups off the back at the same time so we would get held up at the turn if we came in before 9:56. So we played the front as slow as possible and were forced to wait about 40 minutes before starting at -#10. This was a momentum killer. The front 9 took about 1hr 40, the back 9 took almost 3 hours. We would not have played this course if we knew they did this on the tee sheet. Maybe this is common here but it was annoying to find out the day of our round. Otherwise the course was in great shape and we enjoyed our visit.
Great course
Very well kept course! Friendly staff and the pace of play was amazing. Will definitely play this course again when we come back here
Decent
This course is more for a golfer who doesn’t need the best of the best. I’d say it’s well liked by the locals. Everyone was nice and courteous. We arrived early to look around however when we paid in the clubhouse, no one mentioned the driving range or putting greens. The course itself was in good condition. Not a resort course by any means. If you’re use to impeccable golf courses, this isn’t for you. Cart lady was nice and saw her a few times. We were told we couldn’t stop at the turn due to the high volume of people so we pressed on. Pace was average as I waited on the tee 3-5 minutes each hole. Greens were nice but slower than I’m use to in Florida. I admit I’m a bit of a golf snob and use to playing nice courses. If you are like me, this isn’t the course for you. If you’re traveling on vacation, use this as a warm up for future courses that are more marquee. Pretty scenery, but the course was short. I played from the tips and was still wedging in most of the par 4s. Overall it was nice for my family, but I would be upset if I were here in SC trying to play an elite course. $80 was a little steep I feel for the course. $50 or below and it’s a steal.
Pro needs to be fired
Beautiful course in great shape. Hit a log jam on number 10. Called the pro. He came out and tersely said “why did you call me?” 3 groups on one hole is self explanatory. Have never seen a pro so rude.
Great conditions
This course was a little wet but that didnt stop the greens from rolling true. I gurantee these greens are quick and smooth when they're dry. Tee boxes and fairways are mint too. You get lunch and drinks with your green fees too which is nice. The clubs staff is friendly.
Was cart path only, didn’t think that was necessary and staff at the bag drop was weird and waited an hour to put our bags on a cart even though there was 20+ carts sitting there ready to go. But overall, nice course and well maintained.
Great course too bad it rained and lightning
Fabulous course. Lots of water but was not overly tight. Everything from the tees to the fairways, greens and traps were in great shape. The layout was very fluid. It was too bad we had to quit after 13 holes because of lightning and rain. I will play this course again.
Great course
One of my favorites! Course in great shape. Play was a little slow. Had a foursome in front of us that was so slow.
Great Winter Golf Day
Managed to golf with 3 other Canadian Snowbirds! Greens were in great shape and very fast! Fairways were lush and certainly didn’t provide and roll like the barren winter fairways in Florida. Very similar to Canadian courses in appearance. In spite of lots of water including multiple island greens, I parred all the Par 3’s!
Yup!!!
Beautiful! Layout was incredible… course was pristine for early spring. Challenging yet fair. Highly recommend.
A Treat
From arrival to departure a wonderful experience. Very professional. Course in excellent shape from tee boxes through greens.
Greens fees are up and this is a course worth the green fees.
