Course conditions were in great shape. When other courses have dormant grass, here was green. There were times we had 3 groups on a hole. Need rangers to keep pace of play and enforce it. Paid for 4 tee times and 2 carts, but the starter made us consolidate to one cart, as 2 members of our group had travel issues. Informed us they were short on carts. No financial consideration was made to us. Poor customer service.
Great course
Fun course to play on! The greens are nice, highly recommend
Put Me Out of My Misery
5 hours. Argh! To be fair they had a frost delay first thing in the morning. But by 11:00am they had gained no ground on tee times, still and hour behind but you didn't find out until you got to the starter. Twice we were told we were two groups away only to have other groups put in front of us. Then an opening was available to start on the back 9 and the starter sent the group of club members who were supposed to be two groups behind us. Finally, the two groups in front of us decided to play as a group of 7. The Marshal did address this after we brought it to his attention but they just joined back up after a couple holes. Two of the 7 told us they had never played before and one of those had rental clubs that included a broken driver (sole plate was separated from the frame. He couldn't hit very far for some reason. Well, really bad form was part of that. But the swing lessons from his buddy on the tee box were not helping him or the pace of play. I've played 6 courses around Las Vegas and this one is at the bottom of the list. Spend a little more money and go to Revere.
Play was too slow
Need golf management out on the course to keep the play going way too slow
Better job at pace of play
Compared to the last time we played here the pace was a lot better
A course for all
A good layout would be recommended for all levels of golfing abilities.
Stacked tee times (7-8 minutes)
I went out after 2:00pm to play 9 holes and enjoyed it. Paid $20 and got to hit ~30 range balls before playing 9 holes (range was mats only). Honestly a great value even though the course isn't too convenient.
The course is nice, decent views of mountains, hole #9 was a good challenge, par 3's were decent length. The grass on the tee boxes could have been cut shorter. Greens were fine. Biggest complaint is that the bunkers lacked sand. Fairways were fine.
Carts had a large GPS screen that included green slopes, distances from each tee, and marked on the cart where out-of-bounds was. Several holes were cart path only and would lock up if taken off the cart path. Carts had a cooler with ice and tees provided. Everything is run well outside of the tee time spacing.
The course is in a residential area but the homes are far enough away from the course and there's enough decent views that it's not too bad. You need to have your driver's license scanned when you enter the community.
I'm surprised after all these years that there's still no clubhouse (it's still a trailer). Bag drop girl was exceptionally nice. Starter used some surprisingly colorful language.
Greedy Course Management
I’ve never seen a course so overbooked. Don’t play here, I won’t again. Save your money.
Chimera Golf Club
This is my third time playing Chimera. I'm pleased to see the fairways are in better shape. While our pace was slow on the front 9 due to a slow group two groups ahead of us, it picked up on the back 9.
Nice course
Friendly staff, free half basket range balls to warm up on driving range, course in excellent conditions, pace of play good...on average a 3 or 4 minute wait on every tee. Understandable since 3 holes don't allow carts on fairway. Two holes run parallel to driving range so there are range balls on those fairways. Some holes have a blind spot so need to use your cart's map to see other carts in front of you and distance to those carts before teeing off. Drink carts come around frequently, but no food., but can be ordered by using a red phone on 9th tee and pick up at club house restaurant. I would definitely play here again if it's a hot deal again.
Very good course and value for the Vegas area
I last played here 5years ago on a previous golf trip to Vegas. It was great then and great again yesterday. This course is inside a gated community with houses surrounding, but the houses are quite a ways back and rarely come into play. Great vistas of the mountains and over the city. Good use of the landscape for a variety of up and down holes, lots of tee options to make is as tough or fun as you might wish. Solid course for a multi-course play week! The Henderson area has several excellent courses!
Poor Organization
Course condition was fine, greens were solid, just coming out of overseed. Fun, fair layout. The operation is not very solid. We had a 1:37 tee time, but a shotgun on the course did not complete play until 2:15 and we were then the third group out after that. Once on the course, pace was slow and we were unable to finish before dark. We completed 14 holes and two groups were stacked up on on the next tee so we simply left the course. Will never return
Local/returning golfers
We weren’t able to tee off until ~25 min after our scheduled tee time due to a tournament. Initially it played slow but the group ahead of us realized they could/should tee off on a par 5 without waiting for group ahead of them to arrive at the green. Happily we were able to complete the round in 4 hours and 5 min. We were paired with 2 other locals (who like us) knew the course and were very willing to play ready golf! Lastly, I would add that “carts on path only” holes get really beat up fairways because golfers need to take several clubs and a rangefinder but rarely, if ever, take the sand jug. Divots are often splintered and can’t be replaced. It would be better to have course host/ranger enforce 90 rules to preserve turf, etc.
Course Management?
The course is in great shape, and I really liked the layout of the course. The course was in better than average shape for similarly priced courses in Vegas. The pace of play was obnoxiously slow, and no one really cared to do anything about it. We had a 1:52 tee-time and at 6:00 still had not played 4 holes and had to end for darkness. The total lack of course management makes this a do not return ever for me.
