Chimera Golf Club

This is my third time playing Chimera. I'm pleased to see the fairways are in better shape. While our pace was slow on the front 9 due to a slow group two groups ahead of us, it picked up on the back 9.

Nice course

Friendly staff, free half basket range balls to warm up on driving range, course in excellent conditions, pace of play good...on average a 3 or 4 minute wait on every tee. Understandable since 3 holes don't allow carts on fairway. Two holes run parallel to driving range so there are range balls on those fairways. Some holes have a blind spot so need to use your cart's map to see other carts in front of you and distance to those carts before teeing off. Drink carts come around frequently, but no food., but can be ordered by using a red phone on 9th tee and pick up at club house restaurant. I would definitely play here again if it's a hot deal again.

Very good course and value for the Vegas area

I last played here 5years ago on a previous golf trip to Vegas. It was great then and great again yesterday. This course is inside a gated community with houses surrounding, but the houses are quite a ways back and rarely come into play. Great vistas of the mountains and over the city. Good use of the landscape for a variety of up and down holes, lots of tee options to make is as tough or fun as you might wish. Solid course for a multi-course play week! The Henderson area has several excellent courses!

Poor Organization

Course condition was fine, greens were solid, just coming out of overseed. Fun, fair layout. The operation is not very solid. We had a 1:37 tee time, but a shotgun on the course did not complete play until 2:15 and we were then the third group out after that. Once on the course, pace was slow and we were unable to finish before dark. We completed 14 holes and two groups were stacked up on on the next tee so we simply left the course. Will never return

Local/returning golfers

We weren’t able to tee off until ~25 min after our scheduled tee time due to a tournament. Initially it played slow but the group ahead of us realized they could/should tee off on a par 5 without waiting for group ahead of them to arrive at the green. Happily we were able to complete the round in 4 hours and 5 min. We were paired with 2 other locals (who like us) knew the course and were very willing to play ready golf! Lastly, I would add that “carts on path only” holes get really beat up fairways because golfers need to take several clubs and a rangefinder but rarely, if ever, take the sand jug. Divots are often splintered and can’t be replaced. It would be better to have course host/ranger enforce 90 rules to preserve turf, etc.

Course Management?

The course is in great shape, and I really liked the layout of the course. The course was in better than average shape for similarly priced courses in Vegas. The pace of play was obnoxiously slow, and no one really cared to do anything about it. We had a 1:52 tee-time and at 6:00 still had not played 4 holes and had to end for darkness. The total lack of course management makes this a do not return ever for me.

marshals needed

the course is good and the staff are friendly but they need to police slow play more as some players are just taking their time or are not aware of golf etiquette . Also pls refill the bunkers !!!

Rude bar girl at the turn

Course was good value, course Marshall was great and informative . Beer cart team was great , pro shop staff was fair.

The big issue and turn off to this course was the shorter blonde girl that served us hot dogs in the bar at the turn. Super rude and unfriendly. Wouldn’t be back because of her.

Pace is unbearable

So we booked a tee time for 7:30am on 10/19. Unknowing at the time of booking, they selfishly squeezed two times right ahead of a shotgun start which we found out upon arrival, even the staff was confused as to why they’d do that. Got through 4 holes in about 35 mins, it took almost 2 hours to get through the next 5 holes. Pro shop did allow us a rain check for 9 holes even though they kept saying we were only 12 minutes behind pace.. fast forward to 10/25. We went back to play the 9 but booked it for 18 so we could pay the difference and play a full round. We show up, no carts available when they have 80 at their disposal. Time increments were squeezed down to 7 mins to continue showing the greed instead of spacing these out so paying golfers can actually enjoy the round and pace. It took 3 hours to play the front 9, on that final hole there 5 groups of 4 spanning from the green, the fairway, the tee box and then 2 groups just sitting waiting. THIS HAS TO STOP, ENOUGH WITH THE GREED. You have paying residents and guests from out of town looking to enjoy the day and round, no one is signing up to play a 5:30-6 hour round. So unfortunate because the course is in great shape, but until they stop being greedy and change their increments to higher than 7 minutes, this course is not worth playing. The rates keep climbing and the pace keeps getting slower. There was no marshall out keeping the groups moving along or telling them they need to speed up, just groups continuing to pile up on ever hole. Definitely disappointed that we’ve now gone back twice to experience the same thing. We ended up leaving after 9 so this “rain check” round really just resulted in us paying for the back half which we never even got around to get to. Again, avoid this place until they fix their greed and fix their pace of play.

AWFUL PACE OF PLAY.

Do not play this course unless you have close to 6 hours allotted for it. No matter if it’s a weekend in the AM or a weekday in the afternoon, the pace of play is terrible!

They squeezed a handful of groups out on Saturday, 10/19, during a 8am shot gun charity tournament, with absolutely no warning to anyone booking a tee time. The front 9 took well over 2.5 hours, the GM Chris gave us a rain check for a discounted rate on another day.

We came back today for the “rain check”, on a Friday afternoon, only to have the front 9 take nearly 3 hours. This course stacks tee times 7 minutes apart, and it truly is a disappointment and let down, because the course is in great condition. Only if we were able to play the entirety of it. Greed is very apparent at Chimera.

Chimera golf

Nice track that is fair to most golfers.

Disappointed with pace of play at 4:45.

Also sand traps need more sand. Like hitting out of hard pan. Goose dropping on 5 - 6 holes including the greens. Need to help the geese find a new home.
