About
Devil's Claw is one of two golf courses at Whirlwind G.C., part of the Wild Horse Pass Resort and Casino on the Gila River Indian Reservation near Chandler. In addition to its views of four mountain ranges -- South Mountain, the Estrella Mountains, the San Tan Mountains and the Superstitions -- Devil's Claw overflows with Native American culture.
A round on the Devil's Claw at Whirlwind Golf Club begins on Greasy Mountain, a par-4 424-yarder that faces Muh-wah Ha-dahk - the Gila River Indian Community's name for South Mountain. Things get long on the fifth, Maricopa Journey, a par-5 593-yarder designed to memorialize the travels of the Pee-Posh (or Maricopa tribe) from the Colorado River to where the Gila and Salt rivers meet. Go home via Going Home, the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 442 yards from the Black tees. As the Gila River Indian Community sings it, "Our songs are ending as you go your separate ways, take along with you the good songs that were sung here today, as within your hearts."
Don't go straight home: You can still fit in another song after golfing the Devil's Claw golf course at the Whirlwind Golf Club in the clubhouse, which features a fully stocked bar and plenty of plasma televisions for relaxing and catching up on other sports.

Top-notch in every way
Played this course several times and each time have come away impressed. The quality of the course is excellent, the practice facilities very good and the staff friendly and helpful. Will continue to return!
Course was great
The staff and course were great! Just kind of disappointed with the cart experience. One would think that at 175.00 per head the golf cart wouldn’t have bald tires. The right front went completely flat on hole 13. Had to have another cart brought out. Kinda silly for a higher end course. Just my opinion. Wasn’t what I expected at this place. Otherwise a very beautiful place.
Best around for under $200
With the insanity of golf prices this time of year it’s always nice to get high end golf for under $200! The only problem I had was the group in front of us was a shot behind all day, so we were waiting on the tee boxes a lot and I never saw the Marshall. But I’m never in a hurry to go home while I’m at the course! Just messes with my rhythm. Other than that it was a perfect day with perfect fairways and greens!
If I lived closer I would play this course all the time. I loved it. The greens rolled true.
Nothing too stressful, great warmup course for AZ trip
Course was very enjoyable and in good shape. Staff were all first class and friendly/helpful. Greens were average speed. Bunkers need a lot of work, but otherwise great value for the price. Nothing about the layout has a wow factor, but the type of course I wouldn't get bored playing if it were my home course. If you are a 5-7 handicap or lower, play back tees to add a little challenge and more forgiving off the tee left and right.
Perfect Day
Took a friend celebrating his retirement. Great weather was perfectly complemented by the Devil's course condition and staff friendliness. We had lunch and the food/service were excellent. Couldn't ask for a better day. Will definitely come back and play in the near future.
Very nice course
Course condition was very good. Practice facility is perfect so come early before your round. A bit pricy but worth of money.
