On the Classic Club's scenic landscape, golfers will find a wide variety of trees including olive trees, towering pines, and California pepper, but unlike the many other golf courses in Palm Springs, there isn't a single palm tree. The Classic Club opened in 2006 to much acclaim and has since garnered a following amongst locals and visitors. Formerly a host site for the Bob Hope Classic, the challenging layout has an interesting mix of tour-worthy holes including intimidating par 3s balanced by reachable par-5s and short par-4s. Water hazards come into play on 13 holes. The back nine begins with a memorable stretch of holes. The par-4 10th is a tight driving hole with an elevated green and the 11th hole requires a shot over water. The stretch ends with the par-3 12th, which also plays over water to a well protected green.

Great course

Only downside is greens are recovering from some fungus that burned out a few holes. Other than that course is playing fantastic and green speeds are perfect.

Greens have issues

I love the classic. Great layout with lots of water. My 5/6 time playing the course over the past 5 years and I have never seen the greens so bad. Lots of big dead spots on most greens. Very disappointed in that. Rest of the course was fine.

First time but not the last time

6:36am Tee Time

POP was about 3Hrs

First let me start by saying yes 3Hr POP is correct but that was due to being the first time of the day and most importantly the 2 people I was paired up with not showing up. Ended up being able to play a couple extra shots on some really fun holes (Shhhh don't tell management) lol. Fairways were lush and greens rolling absolutely perfect. Like the title says this was my first time playing this course but being I'm in palm desert about 3-4 weeks out of the year it definitely will not be my last.

Classic Club

Rode the Blues (6711/72.9/135) in slightly under 4H early afternoon with GK Guru's John, Ron and Kevin. Fun and easy paced, relaxed group to play with. Thanks to John for setting up and to Classic Club for having the guru group out. Mid 60's, clear and very calm by Classic Club standards.

Fun Arnold Palmer design, nice elevation changes, lakes and valleys coupled with trees that would make you think this is more of a mountain than desert course make it a very unique layout for the area.

Tees were level and lush with good coverage. Most divots already maintained.

Fairways were mostly lush with a few thin areas here and there.

Rough was lush. Nice to chip from as the ball usually sat up.

Sand traps were excellent with deep, thick, fine sand that both looked and played great. Rakes provided on the carts.

Greens were firm and medium fast. Many had spots that did not look good, but they putted excellent.

Customer service was excellent from everyone encountered as always here. Drink cart out making the rounds. Upgraded carts with nice GPS and ports for electronics. Complementary water and good range balls on a 1st class grass practice facility. Everything about this place is top notch. Definitely recommended.

Marshall Attitude

Marshall became defensive when informed the cart gps was off by as much as two clubs saying he’d reset the go’s himself that morning. Just own it and admit his mistake and fix it.

He the. Proceeded to tell us to pick it saying you’re playing right in time but there’s a hole empty in front of you.

No need for rudeness.

Pricey. Worth it.

Love this place. Great layout, some extremely pretty holes, lots of fun. Solid views everywhere, not surrounded by McMansions. Challenging but playable. Beautiful birds. I picture Arnold Palmer smiling every time I play here. Conditions were all around good, winter grass coming in nicely, bunkers as good as you’ll find. Greens rolled well but a little slower than expected. Range, putting and chipping areas all open and top notch.

Paid $165, which included $15 food voucher. It’s hard to know how much a course “should” cost, but you know when a place isn’t living up to the fee their asking you to pay. You won’t feel that way here. Go play and enjoy.

Great course but not great grill experience

No one told my 4sime at check in that grill closed at 2 pm. We had vouchers for food and only the cart server available who was also not aware. Unfortunate as we paid 125 to play.

Beautiful ... but WET in AM and Pricey

Beautiful views. Course in great shape. But they water it so much in the AM, didn’t get any roll on drives until around 11:30-12 PM.

I’d try for a later tee time.

Also, it’s pricey. So while nice, I’d rather spend less for a comparable course.

Perfect

Great day at Classic Club. Greens were rolling true, best I’ve played in a very long time. Fairways and tee boxes were immaculate and the practice green translated well to the course.

Nice layout, quite a bit of water. Sand traps, fairways, and greens were perfect conditions. Greens semi-fast. Beautiful views of surrounding mountains
