Yocha Dehe Golf Club at Cache Creek Casino Resort

Some good holes out here. Tough not to like. But it’s a resort so it’s wide open and easy with smooth greens that don’t bounce. That’s worth 4 stars. Though your mind will go to work on hole 15 and need strength on 13 and 18, most holes are just straight even from the back tees. Been playing here since it opened.

Now, I do realize how and what’s needed to make it as nice as it usually is out here so this is for the ones that want peace out here:

Maintenance crew will be in player, mind and guru way so don’t expect them to stop what they are doing so you can golf. Eh. I ain’t mad at em though! Looks don’t deceive here.

Oh well, Every time we play here they don’t see you. But, there are good times to play here and avoid them like when they leave at 2 or 3. They have all the tools and water other courses don’t have and the heavily armed crew to go with it. Unlike SF courses which ban most pesticides, they have the magic potion here.

The valley from 3 to 7 pm is at its best.

So in reality, it’s an easy course. Well laid out, fabulous valley, smooth surfaces which is the norm here. Very nice.

We won’t stop making the trip here, though for its 5?star reviews it’s more 4 star for golf and 5?star for playing surfaces. Darkhorse in Auburn is a better course. Yep.

New hotel the property is building looks great. Should be good for business.

Nice challenging design. Super enjoyable round especially due to getting pared w/a golfer who had local knowledge.

I was drawn to this course after I saw it on the golf channel ranked #1 in the country. I had a couple of friends play it and tell me it was the nicest course they had ever played.

I really enjoyed the course layout, the intelligence and professionalism of the staff, and the design (and furnishing) of the clubhouse and restaurant.

The cons- they had recently treated the fairways (perhaps punched and seeded)? This was totally unexpected and took the conditions from a possible 5 star to a 3 or 4 star rating. in my opinion they should go out of their way to warn people when this happens (at time of booking, when checking in, etc.) so that there are no surprises if they expect to get top rankings.

Also, the driving range- you hit off a cliff, over a canyon to a much lower landing area. For everything less than mid irons the ball just falls into the canyon. There is effectively no chipping area. The setup is gimmicky. I think that they need to build a separate area for chipping and mid irons which would significantly improve the overall experience.

All the hard work put in this winter is starting to work out..sod patches on fairways are taking hold nicely..greens are running true and fast.love the work done on the waste area on #8 looks wonderful and will add play area.

Again the Staff is the best.

I called two weeks prior to ask if the greens or fairways were plugged or scheduled to be. They said no. They lied. The fairways were a sandbox.

Upon arrival, the bag drop guy was nice and full of information. We had a beer before the round, the bartender was greet and attentive. It was all down hill from there. I checked in and the shop attendant was dismissive and without a greeting.

First tee attendant was great and informant. Everything after that felt hurried by the Marshall. They threw a group right in front of us because the time ahead was unbooked. I played with a group who all shot in the 80's and we were harassed about pace of play the ENTIRE round.

This course was on my bucket list and the round was not relaxing at all. I traveled 100 plus miles to play this course and would not do it again.

This course was amazing it's a must play a least once

I brought a couple new friends here from another state to see what we had to offer,and when they first sat down on the lamborgini of all golf carts and rolled up to the first hole I could see they were in paradise.from the amazing condition of the course to the complimentary waters in the mini fridges everything was like golf heaven.I guess the only comment I would have was I think they either needed to mow the greens that morning or roll them they were pretty slow and that's a first there.But all in all it was simply an amazing day but a long drive from San Jose.Be nice when they finish the hotel so there are rooms available.

This has to be the nicest course in northern california excluding pebble beach and other 300+ dollar courses. Its scenic and isn't too difficult but not easy. Even if you have to save up to play here it is totally worth it.

This is by far THE BEST course I've ever played! Everything, and I mean everything is well maintained and beautiful. People are so friendly and very professional. I have played courses from Sacramento to Solano County to Livermore and even in Maui but few comes close to the beauty and pristine condition of this course. The layout is challenging but very playable. You've go to play this course even if it seems pricey but you'll get your money's worth for sure. One thing though...your fairway shots might get messed up because the grass is so beautiful that your instinct might stop you from hitting the ground and ruining the grass thus topping your ball...hehehe! WARNING...this course can be addicting!!!

What a golf course , it was so windy but I didn’t care. Had a great time.

During my drive to this course I thought three times that my GPS was confused and I was in fact LOST.

But, when you arrive the beautiful casino welcomes you, and the signs direct you to a world class golf course.

The staff are from Troon, top notch golf managers, are professionals and welcome you at every turn. The course is very well watered and groomed. The layout is challenging but fair. My only critique is that green fees are higher than courses in the area
