Really nice walking only Par 3 Course
Beautiful ocean views at all times on this 2500 yard track. Holes are well framed and course is of decent design - varying lengths so you will use a few different irons. Was in nice shape - well maintained. An excellent way to get a short game warm up prior to full rounds in the LA area - about 1/2 hour south of LAX. Warm up nets. The rack rate of $56 is really steep but found a 4-some Groupon which brought the fees down to a more reasonable level. Nice pull carts available for rent $8.
I'd highly suggest a late afternoon round so you can quench your post round thirst with a cocktail at the resort bar - couches/fire pits/ocean sunset view. Reminded me of Spanish Bay except you are south of LA.
Trump National LA is just another 5 minutes south if you're up for 18 directly off the plane but skipped this time - originally named Ocean Trails prior to Trump purchase but for me it just isn't worth bothering to play for what they charge you now....it's very nice but has a lot of design flaws. Next visit to the South Bay I'll definitely start my trip with another tune up at Terranea.
fantastic view of the pacific
great round of golf with fantastic view of the pacific ocean on a perfect day. the course was fun and provide enough challenge. the staff was friendly and helpful.
Nice for a par 3
Good course for an executive course but super short. Although the views are wonderful it’s hard to justify $50+ For a glorified practice range.
Certainly One of the Best par 3 Courses Anywhere
Spectacular views, impeccable conditions, a fun variety of par 3 holes with some wild undulating greens that are in better shape than any of the famous seaside courses in all of California. This is a delightful way to spend an hour and a half when you don't have five hours to play Los Verdes nor $300 to play Trump National.
I'll be back soon!
Beautiful course and views! I highly recommend taking 90 minutes out of your day to experience this tranquil course!
Beautiful short course
This course has a great location with beautiful views. Challenging, very hilly course but fun too. Has a range finder at every tee box. The fairways and greens are In excellent condition. And on top of that is that the staff are superb. They greet you by name and wish you a good day by name as you depart. They made us feel very welcome. You could tell that the starter loved his job. A hardy thanks to the staff.
One of the best par 3 courses in the country
The Links at Terranea is yet another example of how par 3 courses can be premium experiences. True, most people aren't going to be able hit drivers here, or maybe even fairway woods, but there's enough variety to make this more than worthwhile. Plus, it isn't easy with its extensive bunkering, elevation change and large undulating greens. Throw in ocean views and a good walk, and you've got a recipe for a great golf experience. By the way, replay rates are available if you want an 18-hole experience.
Great Par 3
One of the best par 3 courses around. Challenging but fair. Views are incredible. Staff is friendly.
Great!
Best par 3 course I've seen/played. Great views on almost every hole.
Emaculant Golf course!
Amazing course! Good practice for the short game. I love the range finders on each hole! Greens and fairways were very well kept! Championship style course. Very nice staff!
Terranea
Walked the Blacks (1239) in 1H, 20M playing as a single. The weather was clear, windy and in the mid 80's.
Easy & fun course to walk. No motorized carts but a nice walking cart is included as part of your fee. No GPS, but they do have range finders on the tees. The Pro Shop is in a trailer but is well stocked and very functional. Very nice chipping and pitching green in addition to the large practice putting green that is usually very reflective of the greens on the course. No driving range, they have nets for you to warm up in.
Tremendous views plus a really good course layout make this a very fun par 3 course. However, while not bad, the course is not in as good of condition as usual here. Most holes have elevation changes and the prevailing ocean wind always swirls here.
The tees had good coverage, were level and semi lush but had lots of divot damage. Looks like they have a few tees opened farther back than where the markers are, so they may be looking to stretch out a few holes?
The fairways and rough do not come into play all that much on a par 3 course, but both were in good shape. The rough is thick around the sand traps, other than the native areas and the deep faced traps, that is the main real punitive area to avoid.
The sand traps were well maintained with thick sand that I find to be inconsistent. They are tough to get balls up/down with some of the huge lips and deep rough close to the traps here.
The greens are huge for a short par 3 course, so expect some long lag putts. They putted medium fast and were mostly smooth. More ball marks than average which may be why they were still receptive to nice high approach shots even though they were firm.
The Customer Service from everyone encountered was excellent as usual here. Recommended = Yes. You should play here at least once for the views and nice layout.
Course Maintenance
They were re-sodding the 3rd, 6th and 9th hole tee boxes which was irritating. The greens were pretty slow and people just don't repair their ball marks. I'm glad I didn't pay the regular course rate or I would have been very disappointed. One a good note, they have the best portapotties I've ever seen.
an experience
My wife and I played this course for the first time on Saturday morning 6/25/16, as part of our anniversary. The staff was most helpful and the course was in very good shape with beautiful ocean views on every hole. Although it is a par 3 course, the sloped greens and the foothill/ocean effect on putts increased the level of difficulty without being too punitive. Scoring a pair of birdies on the final hole was a nice way to end an enjoyable golf outing.
Golf: Resort Style
Such a great experience. KIETH and the club house personnel were very welcoming and attentive. My wife and I scheduled only a morning of golf which truly felt like a weekend get away. I think I will book a golf/spa package next time; it was really difficult leaving such a warm and inviting place.
A "must play" par 3 course...
Walked the Blacks (1239) using Forelinx in 1.5H, matched up with Barry & Jordan. The weather was clear & breezy and in the 70's. The tremendous views coupled with good course conditions make this a very fun par 3 course. Most holes have elevation changes and the prevailing ocean wind always seems to swirl here.
The tees are lush with good coverage. Most divots had been properly repaired.
The fairways and rough are both in very good shape. The rough is thick around the sand traps, other than the native areas, that is the only real punitive area to avoid.
The traps were well maintained with thick sand that I find to be tough to play out of with some of the huge lips on traps here. there is also a decent amount of small rocks in them.
The greens are large for a course this length. They putt putted medium fast and were mostly smooth. Firm but still receptive to well struck iron shots. Average amount of ball marks considering that shorter irons are being hit into green after green.
The Customer Service from everyone encountered was excellent, especially the starter Alex. No GPS, but they do have range finders on the tees.Easy & fun course to walk. No motorized carts but a nice walking cart is included as part of your fee. The Clubhouse/Pro Shop is in a trailer but is well stocked and very functional.
Very nice chipping and pitching green in addition to the large practice putting green that is usually very reflective of the greens on the course. No driving range, they have nets for you to warm up in. Recommended = Definitely, even if you are not "in to" par 3 courses, you should play here at least once.
Great views!
Walked the Blacks (1239) using Forelinx. The weather was around 75, clear & breezy. Played twice as a single in 2 1/2 hours.
