Hobson Golf Club

Disappointed with this experience. Staff ok but members appeared quite snobby and the tee times were non existent with members coming from nowhere and just stepping up to the first tee. I had to start asking times so that I could find my position. Pace of play was very slow with mainly 3 and 4 balls not letting anyone through. Course was dull with not much gaps between adjacent holes so you were also on your guard to avoid flying balls. Will not be returning here.

Course in great condition – 5 stars. Pace of play poor – 1 star. Overall score 4 stars purely due to excellent condition of the course. We teed off with two holes totally clear ahead of us then had the misfortune to end up behind a 4 ball that we caught up with on the 3rd hole! We subsequently waited circa 20 minutes to tee off on each hole and completed the course well over 1 hour beyond reasonable pace. This issue can be easily addressed by the club simply by monitoring time elapsed from the 1st to the 10th and asking anyone that is ridiculously slow to stop at the club house for 40 minutes and let the backlog clear through.

A beautiful course, very well kept, relatively flat and greens in superb condition. The course provided ample challenges and required thought but also allowed opportunities for good scores if hitting straight. Shot my best round ever including a hole in one on the 15th!!!! Unofficial as I was playing alone and no witnesses but I’ll take it! Despite being a single, a 2 ball let me through as I was playing quicker than they were which was very kind and genuinely refreshing. Course was quiet and couldn’t have enjoyed my round more, will be looking to join when the books open next year. Credit to all at The Hobson, thanks for a great day.

Course in great condition and a pleasure to play. Greens probably best in area and much better than some so-called "superior" courses that we have played this year. Could not believe that there weren't more people on the course - very quiet for such a good quality venue. If anyone from Hobson is reading this it might be a good idea to open up access to the booking diary more for visitors - e.g. stop blocking out long periods of time for members that obviously aren't interested in playing - this would undoubtedly result in more income for the club.

I’ve played a lot of local courses this summer and Hobson was one of the best……the greens were definitely the best and I’ve played some great courses.Would highly recommended this course.

Course was in very good condition for our round [greens especially good] and pro shop / club house / driving range are all top notch. Rating would have been 5 stars except for slow play by two 4 ball groups who teed off 40 & 30 mins respectively ahead of us but were caught up by the 2 ball ahead of us on the 2nd hole and by our group on the 3rd hole. The group ahead of us went home at the half way point [probably due to shear frustration!] - our group persevered but it took us the thick end of 4 hours to get round a course that usually takes just over 3 hours to complete. If anyone at Hobson reads this I suggest that a marshal is put out on the course at busy times [maybe on the 4th or 5th tee box?] to give people a polite hurry up.

This course was an excellent choice as I slowly get back into golf, being a 18 handicap I'm not good but I can hold my own and know a good course when I play one, this is a good course ! Well kept even after record breaking heatwaves, friendly staff on arrival. Great value for money and the fact there is a waiting list for a membership says it all. Go check it out, I'll definitely be back. Thanks Hobson golf club.

Brilliant course enjoyed my round the only thing that spoiled it bunkers need more sand and weather was too hot but I will be playing there again!!!!

Great course, would recommend to any who hasn’t played here before.

One of my new favourite courses. Has some tough, tight holes but is forgiving in the right areas. Only downfall was that the greens were rock hard and the ball would not stop - this made for fun putting though.

Will 100% play again
