Nice well maintained course
Course is currently in very good order and is better maintained than some of the more expensive (overpriced?) courses in the area - the quality of the greens in particular puts several others (Longhirst, Slaley, Matfen, Ramside, Whickham etc.) to shame. The only issue that our group had was a general concern that the recent relocation of some bunkers appears to have made the course more difficult for the average amateur player and easier for the longer hitting pro player - my guess is that this was not the intention and is something that the club needs to review again.
A whole new meaning to “Hobson’s Choice”
Course in fantastic condition. Only disappointment was that I’ve improved my approach shots in terms of hitting the greens but couldn’t keep it there. Fast hard greens often elevated and concave….too much for s duffer like me but great fun anyway
Great Course
Quite flat and an easy round. Staff are friendly and there is a great driving range. I use this course a lot because it's close and it is a nice round that isn't too challenging.
Excellent day
On arrival the course has plenty parking spaces, when entering the club shop I was taken aback by the large amount of quality golf wear and accessories plus we were afforded a warm welcome. The club house is large and in a great position to see off the first drives of the day and welcome the last putts on the 18th and again there was a warm welcome. The food offerings were excellent, very tasty and very well priced. The course was very well kept and for a beginner is forgiving at times, although I did hit a couple of trees. The green fees were also very competitive which I will definitely be rebooking.
A belter
Played Hobson 30 years ago so was eager to go back again. I was not disappointed, the course has matured well and has some interesting and challenging holes. The greens were very good and rolled really well if a little fast.
Looking forward to going back
Great Course
Excellent course. Ideal for beginners and older players. Fairly flat and a good mix of par holes.
Great Course
Lovely course. Great layout. Greens very true and in excellent condition.
Fairways desperate for rain.
Really enjoyed it and would recommend.
A gem
First time playing the course, didn't expect the course to be as good as it is, great all round staff and amenities, will return
Excellent value for money
The course was well presented and a pleasure to play, especially for £12 each. The only downside for us was, in places, it could be a bit of a 'bomb alley'. Lots of tee boxes close to previous greens and a few parallel fairways. I would imagine when the course is busy, there will be a lot of FORE shouts. Having said that, it was in great condition and we would certainly visit again (but only at a quieter time).
A bit soggy
Course was quite wet in places. Normally quite a good course with friendly staff, will return when course dries out a bit more
Spring golf
Good course which has been much improved. Weather excellent. Course has dried out well from the winter rains. Greens very bobbly after holotining and sanding but will be excellent as weather improves.
Overall very good.
Poor condition
The course normally is in great condition but after teeing off we soon realized the course was far too wet and muddy, the greens were covered in sand which we were not told about ,l think £20 to walk around a muddy field for 4 hours was too much , hopefully next time we play the course will have recovered and be good to play ,
A frosty day out
We arrived early and were warmly greeted in the club shop which has all you need for playing & refreshments. We were given a score card and advised of the winter playing conditions / rules of the course. Due to the temperature the course was very challenging but this made it a more enjoyable day. We managed to get 16 holes in before the light got the better of us. We will definitely be back in the summer. The clubhouse was friendly and warm and after a pie & pint and a reasonable price we left planning our next visit.
