About

The Navy Golf Course Seal Beach is a 27-hole facility that includes the championship Destroyer Course and the nine-hole executive Cruiser Course. The 6,780-yard Destroyer Course presents a challenge even for low handicappers with a slew of hazards coming into play throughout. The small greens have challenging slopes ranging from subtle breaks to dramatic drop-offs. To make them even tougher, you'll find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the edges. The tricky doglegs, which are mostly par 4s, will force you to think carefully about your club selection, and to top it all off, water makes an appearance on almost every hole. It's a long golf course that feels even longer due to the rolling terrain, but it is more forgiving than it seems with long, wide fairways that won't penalize you for being slightly errant.

A New Record

Firstly, the pro shop didn’t have my reservation for two players as it was booked through Golfnow. I had to show the starter my confirmation email so he said he would place me at a later tee time.

Secondly,I should have known this was going to be a long, slow round as there were over ten groups waiting to tee off. Apparently, the pro shop decided to squeeze in dozens of golfers who didn’t have advanced tee times at the expense of golfers who did. Three hours and 15 minutes to play the front nine of a Monday! Only got 14 holes in in 5.5 hours. Absolutely painful experience. Additionally, many golfers who sit in their carts watching each other hit approach shots instead of each player going to their ball and being ready to hit. Even worse is players who hit 150 yard tee shots and wait for green to clear from 230 out. No Marshall seen at all. Pro shop was closed by the time we quit so no one to complain to,; not that they care anyway.

Great Course Very we’ll Maintained

Great course in great condition. Pace of play wasn’t super fast, but lots of people are out playing golf right now so that has been the same at pretty much every course I’ve gone to the last few months.

Great 1st Time

Everything was great but the pace. It isn't acceptable when you have 4 different groups waiting at every hole after the 8th hole. A Marshall or someone needed to move the game along. People need to pick up their ball and move along if they are causing a congestion.

NO TEE TIMES

You send e-mails to book tee times but none are ever available. We used to play about every week before the pandemic but now it's next to impossible get on your course. Very frustrating indeed. No sense rating the course when you can't play the course.
