Nice course and a real challenge if the wind is blowing
Course is associated with Travis Air Force Base and is well laid out. Several challenging holes, and is basically a flat course so very good for people who have some limitations on their ability to climb hills.
Bad Day
I play the Base a lot. Really do love the course. Friday though, they group of guys (25) tee off, didn't manage the start times so our 1:20 start was a 1:45 start and after an almost 3 hour front side we just went home. Again this usually doesn't happen, but Friday it did. Then the man who is working the pro-shop most days in the afternoon is constantly rude. Rude and gruff is just not necessary and he is always just flat out grumpy. Again love the course and the price, but this day, the whole experience was a let down.
Challenging 18 holes
Great greens, nice fairways , challenging doglegs. A solid 18 holes. If you want beautiful scenery, it’s not going to be your course. Just straightforward challenging holes.
No Pushover, This
This is a good test of golf. While not in terrific shape, it is playable with reasonably smooth greens. The fairways and rough sport several grass varieties and can be inconsistent. The bunkers are so-so. What the course does have is four really challenging four pars on the back nine (12, 13, 16, and 18) along with a pretty good five par (17) to make the back nine worthy of respect. Bring your game.
Customer service
The customer service is horrible. The guy behind the counter was very rude about me having my kid ride in the cart. They charged me even though he didn't play and I've NEVER been charged for that. The pace of play was ungodly slow almost 6 hours for a round.
Cypress
Cypress can be extremely challenging when the winds pickup. Fortunately, when I played there was a slight breeze. The greens were just aerated, should be perfect in a few weeks
Good Value
Well maintained course with a good layout. Fun to play in the wind, have to get creative with your shots. Really no defense other than the wind. Flat and Open. Some fun holes where longer hitters can get home to a par 5 in 2 or cut the corner. Staff could be a little more welcoming. I would suggest making a tee time. First tee can get a little backed up. No starter. Great rates for Seniors and Military!
Golf with no frills !
Well, a good price for a course that will not win a beauty contest , if you look outside. Lots of farmland . But good challenging fairways, fast greens and good basic golf if you don’t require fancy.
Solid Day
The base is a good course. Greens are running well right now. You need to keep it in the fairway off the tee if you want to score. The afternoon wind can be pretty strong.
Not bad
For the location it was fine. was a little dry but due to time of year and location its understandable
Afternoon great pace
Anytime walk 18 in 3 hours is a plus! Started 1:30, played whites and with the wind made for some long holes. A few long Par 4s that are challenging but overall a great course for beginners/intermediate golfers. No lost balls another plus. Fairways good shape, greens decent. A good day
Pro Shop Employee has no customer service skills
Played on a Monday afternoon (1:30pm tee off) and I pretty much had the course to myself. I played alone and there were no golfers on the hole ahead of me or behind me.
Pro Shop desk person (and this is not the first time I have experienced this) is surely. Also, I was told all rounds would be played starting on the back nine. No problem. When I got to the turn there were two golfers on the 1st tee. I pointed this out asking if people were now cleared to start on #1. He just said "No" and looked annoyed when I pointed our that the twosome ahead of me had cut in. He ignored me and walked away.
