About
Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.
A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.
Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.
Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

Worth the Drive
Don't be afraid to cross the bridge and leave Hilton Head Island to play this course.
The golf course was in excellent condition from tee to green. We played on a Sunday morning and although all the morning tee time slots were filled, everything moved smoothly and we finished right on pace at 4 hours. The carts come with GPS which is very helpful.
The layout was a little on the boring side, not as scenic as some other courses in the area, however there are no houses on the course which is a huge plus in my mind!
Good course - reasonable price
Good course in pretty good shape and little congestion. Enjoyed the round.

Best on the island.
I've always enjoyed HHN. One of the best values in HH. Always in good shape and the layout is very playable. Greens were still healing this trip but still puttable. I would recommend.

Great layout, and in fine shape. Not as tight off the tee as most courses in the Bluffton/ Hilton Head area. Pick your tee box for the yardage you like. Only Gary Player design I have played. Very good.

Lovely Course
Beautiful course, very well maintained. I played a couple days after they were closed for aeration, so the greens were slightly bumpy, but to be expected and they were certainly rolling well considering how recently they had been worked on. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Loved how private the course was, with no houses to see anywhere, rare I think in the Hilton head area. Would definitely recommend!!

Average
Greens very sandy and bumpy dude to areification. They were not very enjoyable to play. Course layout is ok, wide fairways but many holes felt the same to me..straight away with trees on both sides.

Playing the Pine Forest
Wonderful track carved out of wilderness comprised of towering pines and tropical vegetation. Crisscrossing layout offered continuous variety. Would play again in a minute.

Best Puplic Course in Savannah/Hilton Head area.
In my opinion this is the nicest course in the area that anyone can play at a reasonable price. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in great shape. They space tee times far enough apart that you kind of feel like you are only one on course. Staff is very friendly, course is fairly easy if you don't hit into trouble spots but everything is right in front of you. No surprises with the GPS in cart (although I think the yardages are a little off). I will play this course a lot more often with good deals on Golfnow, I was kind of going back and forth between this one and Oyster reef but this one is far better.

So good we had to play it the next day
Excellent conditions and a great course to play for the price. After being disappointed with the conditions at a few of the premium price courses on the island we were thrilled with the layout and conditions at HH National at the reasonable price of GolfNow regular deals. We played at 11am, all 10-14 handicaps and enjoyed it so much we played again the next day from different tees. Greens and fairways were excellent. I particularly like the 4 par 3's which were all challenging but very playable for mid-handicappers. Carts had GPS. Definitely on our rotation for next year.

Less celebrated but still fun
I hadn't heard of this course before travelling out to Hilton Head and it wasn't originally in our plans. Then, when we realised we could squeeze in another round at short notice, this course offered the best value- although at about $100 it still wasn't cheap.

Good course, Well bunkered
This was my first round at HHN. It was a beautiful day for golf. I found the greens and fairways to be in excellent condition. Strangely, the teeboxes were a bit scruffy, almost like a first cut of rough. Even so, the course is pretty straightforward, right in front of you. The front nine is a good warmup, the back nine requires more shot making, strategy. Overall, definitely worth playing and a bargain compared to actually playing on HHI.

A Great Golf Experience
With a variety of holes and challenges and conditioning the best of over 20 local rounds in the last two months, this was a great experience. If I had a full week to golf the Hilton Head area, 90% of those rounds would be at Hilton Head National.

Waited 3 years to play. Not disappointed even if it was cart path only that day. Played at 2:30. Had the course to ourselves. Done 6:00 p.m.
