Length 6580 yards
Slope 131
Rating 72.1

Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.

A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.

Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.

Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

A Hilton Head Must

The greens and fairways are both in excellent shape. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I try to play this course every time I am in the area. Worth the drive if you are staying on the island.

Best course for the value, hands down!

On Vacation for a week with one day to play golf. Read all the reviews and settled on Hilton Head National.
Staff was friendly, price was right, facilities were spectacular and the course was excellent. Started on the back 9 and found the tee boxes clean and perfect. The Fairways were wide and forgiving with yardage markers on every sprinkler head we could find. Yardage was true. Yet the greens are were you make the money and these greens were fast but ran true.
At the turn we decided to check out the food selection and settled on the National burger. Food was great and the staff was friendly and courteous.
We did find ourselves facing some course maintenance in the afternoon once we finished lunch. It closed the front 9. Unexpected but we did learn and would suggest starting earlier than 10am.
The staff was apologetic and offered so many things that this is why we will always choose Hilton Head National Golf EVERY TIME we visit Hilton Head!!!! You can't beat customer service and theirs is A++!

Course of Choice

I go to Hilton Head almost every year and Hilton Head National is my course of choice. I've played other courses in the area and they are very nice, but I always find Hilton Head National to be in good condition and the staff to be very friendly. I always enjoy my time there. I must admit that, although I am an advanced golfer (started playing when I was 10 and I'm now 62), I do like the fact that there's no out of bounds on the course. I play to about a 9 handicap.

Very Nice and Short

This course was in OK conditions when I visited. many other courses in the area are nicer and longer. nevertheless, its a fun course with a nice layout. The price is not justified however. Competition for players is tough in this area.

Give it a try.

9 Holes of great golf!

My friend and colleague played 9 holes of great golf at HH National. The course is very well maintained with very forgiving fairways and lady tee box placement. The staff was very attentive and helpful. I will definitely play the course again when in the HH area.

Needs a 5th set of Tees

The greens were quick and true. I think a 5th set of tees would make the course a little more playable for the player who can't hit a long tee ball. That said it is a a great layout with great conditions.

Pure golf

Play this course on just about every visit to Hilton Head. I call it pure golf as it has no residential at all, and the course is always nearly pristine. Had some severe weather right before teeing it up, so lots if debris on many holes. Course drained nicely, but it was cart path only, and, of course my ball was too often on the non-cart side, but with weather reducing players, my twosome still played in 3 1/2 hours. Staff was great. Did not eat, but quality of the beer was exceptional, cold and plentiful, which probably led to 3 3 putt greens! Did the hot deal, which enhanced value considerably, but the standard rate is still well worth it...

Best course off the island

I played the Port Royal course the day before. Port Royal was average. I was pleasantly surprised with Hilton Head National. The fairways and greens were in great shape. Marshals on the course kept play at a nice pace. We played in about 4 hours. The driving range and putting greens were in great shape as well. Got a great deal on GolfNow, my buddy and I played for $35.00 each. It was an amazing value. I will no doubt play there again when we visit Hilton Head Island.

If I could only change one thing.....

I would like to have changed the weather! It was hot and humid with no wind. Playing in August, you take that chance. Otherwise it was a great day! Course was in great shape.

Great value for the location

Staying on Hilton head Island for vacation, I was looking for reasonably priced golf courses in the area. After reading a few reviews I booked a tee time here. I was not disappointed. The course was in great shape, the staff was very friendly and the course was less than a half hour drive from where we were on the island. The only part that surprised me was for some reason the taxes are not included in the advertised price for the round . This was a very small issue and I would play here again and would definitely recommend this course to anyone.

Grea course for the money.

I've Played most Of The Public Coursea ON Hilton head Island And In Bluffton. You Will Pay More Here Than At Others Off The Island And Less Than Most courses On The Island. For My Money, HHN Provides The Best Value For You Money. Great Course In Great Shape And They Treat You The Way You Should Be Treate. I've Played here Several Times Over The Past 18 Years And Will Definitely Be Back.

Second favorite in the US

Hilton Head National is always calling me back. This is my favorite course in the US next to The Pinnacle at Troon North in Scottsdale. Start with a super friendly staff and starter, then enjoy the perfect fairways and beautiful greens. Gary Player is mindful of both the high and low handicap golfer, and it shows here. Great variety of holes. The 18th always eats my lunch. But then I can stop in the clubhouse for a great sandwich or burger. Don't miss this course when you are in the Low Country.

Should have quit and asked for a rain voucher, but.......

we hung in there despite the fact that it was raining sideways for most of the round. We still enjoyed the course and would go back in a Michigan minute!

Will return soon

It has been close to 15 years and I usually stick with courses on HHI because of proximity but I will be back on my next trip. Strong layout, very good conditioning, no houses and very friendly starter. Play it and enjoy.
