Length 6580 yards

Rating 72.1

Set across 300 acres of lush Carolina Lowcountry, Hilton Head National Golf Club has earned its reputation as one of the region’s premier public courses.

A unique collaboration between golf legends Gary Player and Bobby Weed, the course offers two distinct nines that complement each other beautifully. Weed designed the front nine with larger, more dramatically contoured greens to contrast and balance Player’s strategically crafted back nine.

Among the most memorable holes is the challenging par-4 sixth — bordered along its entire right side by the course’s largest lake and protected by deep pot bunkers near the green. The back nine features several standout holes, including the long and demanding 16th, which ranks as the No. 1 handicap hole for women and No. 5 for men. And finishing strong, the par-4 eighteenth tests precision with a deep marsh running the length of the narrow fairway.

Together, these elements create a course that’s scenic, strategic, and rewarding for players of all skill levels.

Great course!

Played Harbor Town this week for three times the cost to play HH National. This course was in much better shape and the greens were superior to HT.

Beautiful course in an Agusta National like setting

Overall the course was beautiful and had the feel of playing at Agusta. Not quite that nice, but same type of feel to it. It's relatively inexpensive although not right on the island. The fairways were in great shake and the greens soft and receptive. The greens had some nice contours, but weren't very fast. The bunkers were not in very good shape after the island experience heavy resins two days earlier, so the sand was very wet.

Outstanding Course

This is the third and final course I played during my vacation on HHI. I sure saved the best for last. My tee time was at 745, I arrived early enough to hit range balls on the pristine practice area. As I warmed up for my round I noticed a family of deer run across the driving range. Being from Southern California I don't see that very often (coyotes, not deer) so I though that was pretty cool.

The staff were very friendly and made the experience even better. Marshall's were located throughout the course to maintain pace of play which I liked.

As far as the course goes, u can't ask for a better scenery. No houses, and not a hint of brown grass anywhere. Everything about this course was excellent. This course easily goes into my top 5 courses ever played. Everything about this course was well worth the money.

HH National

HH2 was the second course I played in HH and it was far superior to Oyster Reef. The staff was excellent and the course was in great shape, even after 4 inches of rain the night before. We payed at 230 and finished before 6; so the pace of play was dry good. The only problem I have with SC golf I'm July is the greens. I've been told by numerous people that they have to leave the greens longer to keep them from burning out. Coming from western PA, the greens in HH are disappointing to say the least. I was told to come back in the spring or fall...

Course was in great condition.

Everything was in great condition. Greens, fairways and sand traps all in great condition. Course layout was good with very few blind shots. The course has fewer sand traps and water that come into play than most the area courses, but for an average golfer like me it was great. On the top of my list to replay next time in Hilton Head.

One of my HHI favorites

I try to get back to this course every year we come to HHI for vacation. It is always in excellent condition and the wider fairways allow you to have a shot from most any position. Love not having housing all around the course as this makes it a very peaceful and beautiful. A must play.

Excellent course AND Staff!

After spending the wknd in Savannah, I noticed my golf clubs were in the trunk of my car. Hmmm.....drive back to Orlando or shoot up to Hilton Head National and play golf? Easy choice! Always heard good things about this place and many reviews on the internet were positive as well. But I wanted to see for myself. I was so happy I did. The course was beautiful, in great shape, and was full of nature. Lots of Deer, birds of prey, towering Carolina pines and NO UGLY HOUSES like many of the courses I play down in Orlando. The course is challenging BUT FAIR to golfers like me where if 90 is broken, then we are happy as clams. And I did, 88 thank you very much!
Staff were all extremely friendly as well, especially Nancy in the pro shop. Hilton Head National is a MUST PLAY course in the area and I WILL return!

Great course for the money!

An excellent example of coastal golf. The course was visually interesting incorporating the coastal pines, oak trees, Spanish moss and sand yet was still very playable and enjoyable. My only negative experience was the greens crews keeping pace with us for the entire back nine! Why don't they start from 18 and work backwards so you don't get to experience them on every hole! Despite this negative, still was a great experience.

Aesthetically beautiful on every hole

Sharing the entire course with three other parties made pace of play perfect. The fairways and course in general have the feel of never being played. Few divots anywhere

Excellent Layout and Conditions

This course has an excellent layout with wooded views throughout. It was very well maintained and had a top-notch feel. The only reason I won't give it 5 stars was because the greens were very slow. You can see the blades of grass on the greens and they needed cut badly. They aerated the greens 2 weeks before I played it and might be the reason for not cutting the greens. I would still play it again and will my next trip to Hilton Head

Very good Island Golf

Excellent layout and very good conditioned fairways and rough. Super friendly staff. Greens are still recovering from the earlier aeration, but puttable. If the greens were better it would be a solid 5.

Look for 2 for 1 or discounted rates. You can also call and the staff can find you the best available rates.

Great course, not great service.

We had the first tee time at 7:43AM on July 1st. Staff not ready. They did not pay attention. Brought right-handed clubs twice even though I am left-handed and then had attitude when I got "sassy". We had to get off the practice putting green for them to spray and so they offered a free bag of range balls, but we had already paid for range balls. Etc., etc

The course is beautiful and practically a must play. It's just that you may have to thank them for allowing you to use the course as opposed to you getting treated like a customer.

Hilton Head Nation Rookie Experience

This is a great course to play, the value for the money cannot be beat. They had redone the greens but they will still in really good conditions. Fairways were perfect. The holes are not long but can be challanging but so fun to play. I highly recommend this to anyone going to Hilton Head as a "Must Play". Once the greens have come out then this is a 5 star course :)

Nice layout...horrible greens

Greens were not mowed and were incredibly slow and bumpy. Nice layout and design but green conditions were really bad.
