Grand Canyon University Golf Course

The course was far more challenging than I remembered, with elevated, very fast (too fast) greens and deep bunkers.

Rate of play was a bit slow. Group in front thought they could hit it a lot further, than they could..

Had a little issue with the hot dog stand girl. They took care of us inside the cafe. Other than that everyone was great

The driving range was mats only, so I couldn’t warm up my driver. Lots of bad lies in the fairway and not really not enough grass for the ball to sit up. Greens were not as good as I was led to believe.

Lots of protected greens and sand traps at fairway landing zones make club selection key to keeping out of trouble (driver was not an option on many holes). As a result, lots of sand shots today, and they splash out out fairly well (a couple were wet and hard packed, but most were fine). The marshall told us they have removed 12 traps lately (there are still so many I can’t imagine where from), and they plan to remove 14 more. That should make it easier to play through. Greens are mostly raised and firm so hard to stay around some times. Although quite fast they rolled very true. Overall great shape and a great value. Definitely want to play again now that I know what to avoid.

Pace of play slow, course layout poor - several places where balls were coming at us from several directions - not from our hole. Dangerous at times. Conditions ok but will never go back or recommend to others.

I wasn't impressed with the course location, non-descript, surrounded by busy roads, and traffic noise. The couse is flat and not very challenging,. I would not try it again.
