The mountains are close enough to touch at this Arthur Hills design. Heritage Palms measures 6,698 yards from the back tees.
Four lakes are featured on the course, which is very green for a desert design. Hills contrast the fairways against the mountains and the desert in the distance, but this is very much a resort type course.
The par 3s are particularly inventive. This isn't one of Hills' tougher courses. It offers average hackers the chance to have a largely anxiety-free round. As long as they don't get too carried away with club selection.
There are a number of dogleg holes that force you to think before firing away. Just hitting as far as you can is an easy path to trouble. It's the shot after the shot you're hitting that must be thought of.

Nice Course
Fairways wide and in great condition. Greens in great condition and roll true. Not the fastest greens but reasonable. Pace of play was horrible due to one group holding up the whole course. Marshall talked to them but it didn’t do any good. And PROSHOP closed at 1:00 so no help after that. Guy I played with said it’s not always that slow. Well worth the money and I will definitely play it again when back in Indio area.
Excellent golf experience
This golf course is one of the best in the Coachella Valley, including other courses in La Quinta and Indian Wells that are far more expensive. Friendly staff, excellent course conditions, a challenging and fun course
Heritage Palms
Rode the Golds (6698/72.1/128) in less than 3H mid day on a GN Hot Deal. Played 9 with two different guys who only wanted to play 9, it was 110 and clear.
Semi-private course that is surrounded by nice homes and condos in a gated community. Arthur Hills design that is around 25 years old. Typical resort type layout. Mostly open with only a few tight shots with several lakes that come prominently in play on a few holes. Enough sand, trees and native areas to get your attention without beating you up with them. Playing conditions were near immaculate.
Tees were immaculate, level and lush with hardly a divot anywhere.
Fairways lush and nice to play from.
Rough mowed down uniformly low and not very penal.
Greenside traps nicely maintained with thick, white sand. Fairway traps were a little more firm.
Greens were firm, smooth and putted medium speed. Hardly a ball mark anywhere and you had to play for run out.
Customer service was excellent. Quick efficient check-in. Beautiful, large clubhouse. Nice practice range that included a chipping area over by the tennis courts. The course would not be very walkable because of the heat and the fact that numerous tees are a long way from the last green. Nice layout that would be good for players of all skill levels. Recommended.
This is a special place
The staff is incredibly nice! We enjoyed a fantastic round on a Sunday morning and had a fabulous Buffay when we finished. Love this place!
Always a treat
Having played here during high season and low, before and after the covid closure, I can tell you that the course right now will not disappoint. While not in prime high-season shape, it’s in really good shape for summer. The greens are running slower than normal and are spotty in places, 8-8.5 I’d guess, but having played some of the best here in the desert, t’s one of the best conditioned courses in town right now, at least in the public realm. The shoo and outside staff are great and beyond friendly. Play here if you can!
course was being "plugged" this particular day and only had 9 holes open....the pro Gordon gave me the courtesy of a phone call prior to the round to inform me...much appreciated!!
Greens need so help!
Everything was excellent except the condition on the greens the most important thing.
