Whirlwind Golf Club - The Cattail Course
About
Whirlwind Golf Club features 36 holes across 242 acres. Wild horses and native beasts roam the landscape - so don't let them drag you away. While just 12 miles from the metropolis of Phoenix, Whirlwind Golf Club's Cattail Course takes golfers to a secluded and scenic environment, where desert tranquility and beauty is a silent playing partner throughout.
Gary Panks designed the courses at Whirlwind Golf Club. The par-72 Cattail measures 7,222 yards and beings on Arrow Shot, a par-4 413 yarder; the South Mountain Range's canyons will guide you, but shoot straight. Things get long on Two Mesquites, the second hole, a par-5 517 yarder, which does feature Mesquites, a staple for the Gila River Indian Community, used in construction, medicine and food.
Finish up on Last Hole, a par-4 450 yarder that offers a good test to close on, as it is the course's most demanding to drive.

Spectacular
The course was in excellent shape,we had a 7:30 am tee time.finished in 4 hours. Fairways excellent, greens provided some challenges.
Had a great day.
Value for the $$
Nice course. Layout was nice. The foursome in front of was a little slow, the 2 young boys thought they were big hitters they were not.
A little better signage when going from 9 to 10.
Great course
While the course is in excellent condition and the staff is awesome, it’s a little too expensive for me at $199. I’ve played other courses in just as good condition for half the rate. At the end of the day it's about having a great time making memories with your buddies!!
Whirlwind golf
It was a beautiful spring afternoon and the only issues were some marginal golf shots and the fact we only saw the cart girl once.😢
Starter must been having a bad day. He wasn’t very nice!!
Cattail at Whirlwind does not disappoint
Cattail is a great layout, meticulously maintained and does not disappoint. Great course! I rated it only four stars for value because all Phoenix golf in February and March is now priced sky high. No wonder the airport is named Sky Harbor!
Nice track
Beautiful course, well kept. Pace of play was a bit slow. In terms of scenery there wasn’t a whole lot, however the course was in excellent shape. Enjoyed this round but it was not worth $230 at twilight. But I guess you have to charge that because dummies like us will pay it.
