About
Devil's Claw is one of two golf courses at Whirlwind G.C., part of the Wild Horse Pass Resort and Casino on the Gila River Indian Reservation near Chandler. In addition to its views of four mountain ranges -- South Mountain, the Estrella Mountains, the San Tan Mountains and the Superstitions -- Devil's Claw overflows with Native American culture.
A round on the Devil's Claw at Whirlwind Golf Club begins on Greasy Mountain, a par-4 424-yarder that faces Muh-wah Ha-dahk - the Gila River Indian Community's name for South Mountain. Things get long on the fifth, Maricopa Journey, a par-5 593-yarder designed to memorialize the travels of the Pee-Posh (or Maricopa tribe) from the Colorado River to where the Gila and Salt rivers meet. Go home via Going Home, the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 442 yards from the Black tees. As the Gila River Indian Community sings it, "Our songs are ending as you go your separate ways, take along with you the good songs that were sung here today, as within your hearts."
Don't go straight home: You can still fit in another song after golfing the Devil's Claw golf course at the Whirlwind Golf Club in the clubhouse, which features a fully stocked bar and plenty of plasma televisions for relaxing and catching up on other sports.

Great course
Everything is great here. They pay attention to the small details to make it a great golfing experience. Course is super nice also.

Fairways and greens very stressed from heat and lack of water. It was in good condition in February.
Whirlwind best intermediate challenge and interesting lauout
Played we ka po and talking stick too. We Ka Po more challenging. Talking stick really flat. Beat of 3 we played
Devil’s Claw in Fine Shape
From tee to green (and everything in between), the course was in good condition. Greens were just a bit slow. Our twosome played the round in 3:40. Value was also good.
Great shape
This is a great course. From ee boxes to greens it was beautiful. Bunkers were excellent (and I was in many of them). Greens are a challenge but putted true. Staff was friendly. Enjoyed this course. Will be back.
Devils claw
This course was in excellent condition for the price. Greens were fast but fair. Highly recommended it for your game
Great facility
Really great experience all around. Staff was super friendly and accommodating from start to finish. Practice facilities included huge putting and short game area and a well manicured driving range. Course was in great shape, greens ran true and slightly quick with some challenging tiers. Layout was fun and engaging with some elevation change and guarded greens. Didn't see beverage cart during the round, but water was readily available on each side. Played at 3pm on a Sunday and didn't run into any pace issues until mid back 9. Would definitely recommend if you can find a deal between $100-150. I will be back for sure!
Good course- great shape
Lots to like about this course. It’s a bit pricy but everything is top notch from course, to practice area, to the golf carts.
My one complaint is with the starter. He could not have been less friendly, welcoming, or enthusiastic about his job. Really a bad reflection on the golf experience at Whirlwind.
Slow play day
The course and service never disappoint. It was in great shape. I have to strike one star off the rating because the pace of play was slow, and there was no course marshal staff to speed up the groups who were causing the bottleneck. We ended up playing the front nine twice due to the bottleneck on 7, 8, and 9. We paid for 18, and we were wanting to get all 18 in before sunset, so re-playing the front 9 again was our choice. I have never experienced this issue before at Whirlwind, so it was unusual.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course, definitely will play again if the price goes down. $280-$350.00 is very pricey.
Great course
Very beautiful layout, course conditions are pristine. Very very difficult for the ladies, very long and almost every fairway is uphill. But we enjoy that beautiful course.
