About
Devil's Claw is one of two golf courses at Whirlwind G.C., part of the Wild Horse Pass Resort and Casino on the Gila River Indian Reservation near Chandler. In addition to its views of four mountain ranges -- South Mountain, the Estrella Mountains, the San Tan Mountains and the Superstitions -- Devil's Claw overflows with Native American culture.
A round on the Devil's Claw at Whirlwind Golf Club begins on Greasy Mountain, a par-4 424-yarder that faces Muh-wah Ha-dahk - the Gila River Indian Community's name for South Mountain. Things get long on the fifth, Maricopa Journey, a par-5 593-yarder designed to memorialize the travels of the Pee-Posh (or Maricopa tribe) from the Colorado River to where the Gila and Salt rivers meet. Go home via Going Home, the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 442 yards from the Black tees. As the Gila River Indian Community sings it, "Our songs are ending as you go your separate ways, take along with you the good songs that were sung here today, as within your hearts."
Don't go straight home: You can still fit in another song after golfing the Devil's Claw golf course at the Whirlwind Golf Club in the clubhouse, which features a fully stocked bar and plenty of plasma televisions for relaxing and catching up on other sports.

Amazing Golf but a Bit Busy
The course & facility are top notch. It was a bit slow in pace of play both days I played there, early afternoon tee times. Pay the extra for prime morning times, should be much better pace of play.

Good Course
Played about a week after they over seeded
2 some , played in 3 hours even with cart path only
Was 60 , windy and drizzled the last 5 holes so maybe the course was not crowded at all

Nice place
Great challenging course
Due to the seasonal overseeding, it was cart path only. The course was in great shape and was a challenge, especially with the only forward tee option at 5,500 yards and a few target (forced carry) holes. My husband and I were paired with another couple and had a very enjoyable day. We were disappointed that the kitchen was closed when we finished our round at 4:30PM, but other than my score, that was the only disappointment. 🙂
Golf day with my two favorite ladies!
Devil's Claw is a fantastic course. Couldn't have had better conditions. They had just finished overseading and were cart path only. Loved having the opportunity to walk some of this gorgeous, well manicured, facility with scenery of the desert and mountains that's nothing short of breath taking! Thank you to the professional staff that is so well trained. Love to see so many people displaying their pride in being an employee of such a wonderful golf course!
Over priced
We have been playing here for years when it was 35 dollars in the summer. Played here once this year. it’s a nice track but like everywhere there all over priced now this isn’t the beach. This is a desert.
Another slow day
Not sure why 5 hour rounds are standard here but they really need to fix it. When you have a 1pm tee time you really don’t think you will be finishing at dusk. Other than that the course was great as usual.
Average
Played padre course associated with Camelback resort. Similar costs but much better value at Padre. Average across the board.
Play Whirlwind
Very nice course. Layout nice, a few challenging holes. Greens were very nice and had allot of multi tiers. Very enjoyable course and I’ll play again when in the area.
