About

The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables sits next to the beautiful hotel, an architectural masterpiece that was modeled after the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Donald Ross designed the course in 1925 and the traditional layout has retained all of its original character. The golf course weaves through a series of canals that used to carry guests along in gondolas. The canals run alongside the lush fairways while towering banyan trees frame the elevated greens. Offering views of the historic hotel from nearly every hole, there are carts available but the golf course is worth the walk. The layout is popular not only for its historic scenery and verdant setting, but also for its playability. Over the years the Biltmore has been host to a number of professional golfers and celebrities ranging from Babe Ruth to Tiger Woods.

Service was horrible

I arrived to the pro shop to check into my tee time and I was unaware of the weekend rule of no spectators allowed on the course. I was going to play by myself, with my mom watching, but she was not able to ride with me and watch. When I asked the lady at the front desk, she was very rude about me not knowing, saying “maybe you should have read online before you came” in which she was right, but could have been a little more polite in addressing that to me. The starter was extremely disrespectful to me as well, he was very short when he talked and seemed like he did not want to talk to me. I also was not aware that you had to pay for your range balls before you used the ones provided on the range, I was rudely reminded of that when I went to warm up before I teed off. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with my visit.

Historic challenge

The Biltmore is tucked away in an older upscale Miami suburb. Old course well maintained, challenging design. Home course of UM women's golf team. Great value at $80 with cart. Tee times can be difficult for visitors to area.
