Good course spoiled

Nice course in a lovely setting. Spoiled by rude / disinterested person in pro shop and passive aggressive members.

No updates to course conditions

Rang ahead to check the course conditions as the weather was poor. Prerecorded message on the phone stated the course was open with no restrictions. Pack up the car and drive for an hour to get to the course only to be told the fog was too thick and we were turned away. 2 hour drive early on a Sunday morning to not even swing a club.

Please update your course conditions hotline to reflect the actual conditions of the course, could have saved a long drive.

Super Course

Super course and scenery. Greens had just been prepared for the end of season but still very responsive. Very friendly from shop staff to clubhouse staff. The young girl who looked after us after the round gave excellent customer service, well done.

The course layout is excellent and enhances the wonderful scenery which was further enhanced by the deer and squirrels what a perfect setting and day. Thanks so much. Considering becoming a member as I live near by.

Well worth a visit

I have played Consett many a time. Extremely windy today but that did not detract from the course layout and condition. Fairways and greens, when I hit them, were in very good condition. Seen an array of wildlife, even a deer running down the fairway.

Very slow round

Enjoyed the course but put off by members with a painfully slow round. As a 2 ball, played behind a 3 ball of ladies who did not allow us to play through despite waiting tee and green for 17 holes. For a course that length, it should not take more than 4 hours to play regardless of ability

Soaking wet course after a week of windy dry weather

Course was soaking wet with fairways completely bogged with mud and not even marked as GUR, balls being lost in the fairway due to how wet it was. After a week of hot windy weather I expected a course so high up to be fine but it wasn’t. Boring course to play, holes are the same over and over; drive, wedge, putt etc etc. The greens were in absolutely horrendous condition, covered in weeds and it must be a course rule for pitch marks to not be repaired, a perfectly straight putt could turn and bounce 5 times with how bad and bumpy they were. Course shouldn’t have even of been open.

Very disappointing

Very good in the past - however this time I think the course should have been closed due to very poor ground conditions.

Good value and well worth a visit!

Recent heavy & prolonged rainfall and experience at other courses in the area had left us with low expectations. However, the course is currently in fairly good order with all permanent greens in play / running true which is in stark contrast to other courses in the area that are charging well over double the green fee and are in much worse condition - e.g. Sharpley, Slaley, George Washington etc. If you are thinking that higher green fees = better course / better experience then think again! Consett is well worth a visit. Only potential negative is the slog back up the hill to the club house from hole 14 but you get used to it and it adds another interesting dimension to the course.

Shocking

Course isn’t in good condition, more of a mud bath than anything else. Even members said it shouldn’t be open. Not a great experience and more than likely wouldn’t return. Puddles on greens, everywhere waterlogged and muddy. Was far from an enjoyable round

Boggy mess

Course should have been shut it was that terrible condition wise. Mud all over, poor mossy greens with their own standing water features. No mention of temporary green.

Resembled a freshly ploughed farmers field in 80% of places.

Little Gem

Consett GC is a little gem of a course. Great layout with fantastic views. Not particularly long bar one hole where par is a real triumph. Generally in very good condition. Practise net n putting green n great clubhouse looking over the course. Well worth a look.

Mother Nature

Stepped on the first tee and Mother Nature decided to flood the whole of the north east of England with possibly the hardest down fall of rain ever seen by man… didn’t even get to take a shot… money down the drain with the rain water…🤬

Friendly staff

The staff were very friendly welcoming. The course conditions were still a little damp in places following the recent wet weather which made club selection a little difficult due to undulating and sloping fairways. Overall good day despite a little rain on the last few holes
