Sunny South Moor

We were fortunate to have a sunny round of golf at South Moor. The course is very picturesque, with a mixture of difficulty levels, and risk or reward holes. Overall, the course is very welcoming and I recommend it to everyone.

South moor

2012 was the last time l played here but course is still very good despite it's recent troubles. Apart from a bottle neck half way around whher we had to wait about 15mins the rest went smoothly. Staff very friendly as were people playing. Small bit of work has been done on some fairways but didn't affect anything anyway as you have a free drop off affected areas until it all grows back over. Greens were a in really good condition also.

Overall South Moor is excellent value for the £13 we paid and will be back in the future.

Decent Round at a Discount

Played Southmoor a few times now and each time it’s had a ghostly atmosphere to it until you’re on the first tee. Pro shop and bar has never been open, no staff to be seen. However, first tee there’s always been 3 groups waiting to tee off and it’s kept the same pace throughout the round. Overall, course is decent and I would play again with a cheap tee time, but no way am I paying full price when there’s better courses 5 minutes away at better prices.

Good value for money!

Played today and I must say, the front 9 left a lot to be desired (bar the 8th) but the back 9 I’d come back for. Some great challenging holes. Good value at only £18 for a green fee.

needs some TLC

tee boxes awful, slow play was horrific...understand lots of visitors for the price but they should get told about playing people through...ruined it for me. round the greens need TLC doesn't look like fringes been cut in s while. overall if it wasn't for pace of play it would be OK for the price.

worth playing if your a beginner and not in a rush to get around. 4 hours plan for a round here

Followed seniors comp

25 years since I played south Moor, decent challenge bookings should advise who you are following if possible as we flew through first 12 holes, last 6 took as long as first 12 as followed seniors comp.

Enjoyed all the same, clubhouse was buzzing with a nap rambling group party, great fun

Nice course

Course was in great condition, good challenge with some blind tee shots and dog leg holes.

Members very friendly having a chat with us over a pint after our round, one slow fourball had the course backed up a little ,but we never waited more than a few minutes to tee off. Will be back for another round soon.

Excellent course and a great testing layout

We have played here a few times now and its a lovely course.

Unfortunately, this time we got stuck behind two very slow players he did not wave us through. A member of the club spoke to them after the round to try to explain general course etiquette.

Didn't spoil are day, but it was an over 4 hour+ round for a two ball!

Front 9 eases you in nicely, tricking you into thinking you’re going to play the round of your life, until the nasty, unforgiving and difficult back 9 humbles you. Brilliant course, tight fairways and fast greens, fantastic value for money and well maintained.

I played alone on seniors day so kept getting caught behind 3 or 4 ball seniors but they did mostly let me play through. That explains the pace of play rating. I will be back.

Beautiful South Moor GC 😍

South Moor is an absolute belter of a course. From the par 3 1st to the par 4 18th, every hole is a challenge with undulating fairways, lightning fast greens and plenty of hills to keep you fit. One of the main reasons I wanted to play here was because it is a Dr Alister Mackenzie course (Augusta legend) and I wasn't disappointed. Can't comment on off course amenities as I didn't use them but the guy in the pro shop was super friendly 👌🏻 I have marked the course down one mark due to the bunkers, they're not great, improving them is much needed. All in all, I highly recommend this course and I will be playing here quite a bit over the summer 👍🏻🏌‍♂️⛳️

McKenzie gem in the North

Played on a busy Bank Holiday Monday.

Played solo and thankfully groups were happy to let me play through so round took just over 3 hours = acceptable.

Hilly course so be prepared for never having a flat lie with a comfortable stance. Choose your lines carefully especially on the holes running across the hillside. A few blind tee shots also.

Tee boxes could do with a little TLC.
