Horseflies Everywhere
Played this course and was not impressed one bit .
Everywhere on every hole there are flies and after three holes I had 8 bites which were bleeding and swollen.Aftr 10 holes we
Thought it best to come off and go for Antihistamines from the Pharmacy .
I do think their should be a warning on golf now site to prepare potential bookings.
Good test, good condition
South Moor is well worth a visit. Course in good condition, a decent test for all handicaps, the only negative is the pro shop still being closed.
Greens quick fairways bit damp in places otherwise was good.
Good greens
I won't be returning. There's nobody there to check you in until after 10. No refreshments available as bar is closed and no pro shop. Greens were the highlight of the course everything else is really sub par in my opinion. Used to be a fantastic course but just appears a bit neglected these days aside from the greens which I did like. Really need to step up their game with the meet and greet as its guess work if your a first timer. You also need course knowledge as there's a lot of blind holes and no sight markers to help with line into the green. Certainly won't be returning
I’ll be back
Beautiful course, lots of exciting holes.
Was wet and I could have been tidier in parts.
However, still an excellent course and received a warm welcome in the bar, nice pool table too!
Poor
Nothing open when got here, course was soaking wet, grass was long and cut grass everywhere.. was not worth £27 a person very disappointed
Great track
Designed by Augusta architect a really nice track. A little bit rough around edges due to climate but well worth a visit
Bit of a damp squib
Wet, messy fairways after heavy overnight rain but greens commendably good. No pro shop and no catering.
Grass like quicksand
Arrived and club shop closed no one about , ended up getting scorecards from the bar. With all the rain over the north east last few months it was inevitable to book a course that was in a poor condition, and it was just that. Lack of fairways on the front 9 and everywhere just felt like quicksand, ground moved underneath you so couldn't stand correctly. Greens were terrible , bumps all over them and extremely slow. No bounce anywhere on course just plugged tee shots on pretty much every hole I played. Positive was my mate got his first ever birdie on the longer par 3 👌🏻
Course closed
Course was closed due to the weather etc. however I tried almost all Morning to get in touch with course to re arrange. Response was disgusting and am now £63 down. Not even having hit a ball.
Am seriously thinking about cancelling my golf now subscription if this is the service they provide
Too wet to be open
Thankful for a round of golf in wet conditions, however the course should have been closed. The greens and fairways we’re lakes of accumulated rainfall. Every high shot was lost due to plugging.
South moor
The course looked like it would be good in drier conditions, the reality is it should have been closed as most greens flooded and fairways were boggy.
Hidden gem of a course
I played this course at the weekend despite there being horrendous rain the course was open and in a pretty good state. Really enjoyed the layout and challenge of every hole, will definitely be heading back.
Nice layout but poor condition
The course is nicely set on the moorland with very pretty views and nicely kept greens. Unfortunately, the course was pretty much waterlogged on nearly every fairway. In places it was like hitting off of rice pudding with grass on. There was some new drainage channels cut, but I doubt this is going to make as much of a difference as is needed for the course to be properly playable. Also, as is the case with so many courses, the pace of play was unacceptably slow.
Great layout but picked the wrong time of year
The course was wet and boggy in places especially the first 4 holes but i did enjoy the layout, the views, the challenges and its a cheap round to be fair. Will probably return next summer
