South Moor Golf Club

Played South Moor for the 1st time today, I went into it thinking it would be a walk in the park but how wrong was I, this is a very challenging course but also very enjoyable, would definitely play here again.

Sadly the course was extremely wet when we played. So it’s difficult to really give a decent review of this course. It’s a tough course physically so for those with any mobility or health issues, a buggy would be recommended. The holes are quite challenging and enjoyable to play. We played as a 2 ball and at a decent pace it still took us 4 hours to do 18 holes. I would play here again but it would need to be dry and I’d have a buggy next time. The club house was nice and the staff very friendly. I can’t comment on the food because the course was quite and they’d stopped serving food at 4, we didn’t finish until after that.

First time playing this course, Pro in the shop was very helpful and gave good advise for going round this course.

Pace was great.

The conditions of the course was excellent, even though it was a little wet today but that can’t be helped due to weather, but the greens and fairways where in excellent condition. We could tell that this course will be better in the summer and would definitely be coming back to play here very soon….

played this course several times, its well laid out and a challenge to play. Single player but was let through so around in about 2 hours.

Scampi and chips in the clubhouse afterwards was very good and the staff were very chatty and helpful.

all in all a great day and i will be back.

Played on a rainy Saturday after a few days of heavy rain. Greens were in great condition despite weather. Not a great deal of casual water on fairways but there were some very wet & slippy areas in the rough, especially down left side of 18. Some of tee boxes could do with some levelling work.

Pace of play very good, but then there were not many golfers out.

Blown away by the condition of the course after the exceptionally dry summer we’ve had, particularly the greens which were unblemished, quick and true.

Second time i have (Played ) this coarse, Fairway’s greens AND ROUGH !!! great condition . Good workout for myself and golfing partner .THE 19th ( Excellent BEEF AND GRAVY SANDWICHES ) .Staff friendly and helpful . Thanks for a great day . Hope to play again BUT a lot better next time .

Good course in excellent condition with the exception of bunkers that urgently need more sand in them to allow players to get under the ball properly. Challenging layout that requires accuracy from tee to green due to some quite severe slopes and very punishing rough – it’s very easy to loose balls even from shots that appear to be “down the middle” off the tee. Putting is also tough due to sloping greens that can make achieving par difficult. Recent imposition of some quite severe speed humps on Middles Road by the local council is a nuisance – hopefully it won’t put to many people off coming to the course.

We played Southmoor early Thursday morning so no food was available but there was a hot drink machine to use. The course is in fantastic condition and the weather was kind. The staff are dry friendly and helpful and the pro shop is very well equipped with some good bargain’s. Definitely play again soon
