About
The Navy Golf Course Seal Beach is a 27-hole facility that includes the championship Destroyer Course and the nine-hole executive Cruiser Course. The 6,780-yard Destroyer Course presents a challenge even for low handicappers with a slew of hazards coming into play throughout. The small greens have challenging slopes ranging from subtle breaks to dramatic drop-offs. To make them even tougher, you'll find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the edges. The tricky doglegs, which are mostly par 4s, will force you to think carefully about your club selection, and to top it all off, water makes an appearance on almost every hole. It's a long golf course that feels even longer due to the rolling terrain, but it is more forgiving than it seems with long, wide fairways that won't penalize you for being slightly errant.

everything was great, until...
We had a later tee time to take advantage of the deal time and while hitting balls on the range, the starter came up to us and asked if we wanted to tee off 40 minutes early. Yes, thank you very much! The facilities were good and the staff were great. We knew we were in for a slower round when we reached the second tee and the group ahead of us was still waiting to hit. Disappointing, but not unexpected during the weekend. Pace was slow, but not terrible the first 8 holes, taking 2 hours and 15 minutes for the first 8. When we reached the 9th tee, we were the 4th group waiting to tee off! Yep, you read that right, 4 groups on the 9th tee. Not what you want to see any time, but especially when you tee off 5 hours before sunset and now you realize that 5 or 6 hours was not going to be enough! The course needs to manage the pace of play better. Needless to say, we are not coming back

Hot deal is worth it
Love the layout, staff, group I was paired with: haven’t been for awhile to destroyer since it’s gone up in price. I play 3/5 times a week so try to keep it under 30 a round this day I paid 17 for a hot deal at 2 pm finished in a decent time considering we had walkers with us. Wish the water was still in the middle of course just got the aesthetics but I hit one ball into the dry lake and walked out with 7 ProV1’s so the round was basically free haha. Will be back for the cruiser with my girlfriend and hopefully more hot deals at this course

Enjoyable Round
Interesting course layout. The last 3 holes are long. The greens were a little slow. The course is very walkable. The pace of play was a little slow (4.5 hours) but no t too bad. I’ll play again.

Beginner friendly
We booked this place 7d ahead and did not know it was under repair and aeration. So it was a surprise when we ended up only paying twilight rate, great offering from the staff. Most holes were wide and long, perfect for slicer like myself. The drained ponds helps locate some of the ball that would normally be lost. The green was hard to gauge due to aeration but still an enjoyable round with my buddies. We all want to come back when the course is in better condition but despite all the work they were doing, the course was still very fun. Definitely recommend
