The mountains are close enough to touch at this Arthur Hills design. Heritage Palms measures 6,698 yards from the back tees.

Four lakes are featured on the course, which is very green for a desert design. Hills contrast the fairways against the mountains and the desert in the distance, but this is very much a resort type course.

The par 3s are particularly inventive. This isn't one of Hills' tougher courses. It offers average hackers the chance to have a largely anxiety-free round. As long as they don't get too carried away with club selection.

There are a number of dogleg holes that force you to think before firing away. Just hitting as far as you can is an easy path to trouble. It's the shot after the shot you're hitting that must be thought of.

Will Play Heritage Palms Again!

A small group was in Palm Springs for a golf week and we had a couple of unbooked days. Found Heritage Plams on Golf Now and the reviews were positive so we decided to give it a whirl.

The price was right at $99 with the Sunday breakfast buffet included in the clubhouse.

When we arrived, the staff was extremely friendly and the course looked to be in great shape.

We had a terrific breakfast, warmed up and played golf. Perfect day, in my book.

The course had only been reopened after over seeding for about a week, but it was in fantastic shape. The fairways were terrific, perhaps just a bit soft from all the over seed watering but played great. The greens rolled true and were of a moderate speed.

We really enjoyed the mix of holes and the variety that we saw around the course. It was a very enjoyable round and I will definitely play here again, enjoyed the clubhouse vibe, the staff was great and the course was fun and calling us back.
