Wolf at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
About
Forget everything you've heard about that gentler, kinder Pete Dye at Paiute. When you step onto the Wolf Course at the Las Vegas Paiute Resort, the legendary architect with the cold hacker heart returns. And then some. The newest of the three Paiute courses, comes in at a staggering 7,604 yards.
And it's an isolated 7,604 yards. You don't only get lost in your round here. You could almost literally get lost in the desert with a few wrong turns off the cart path. Drives that go flying off target deep into the desert areas are unlikely to found by another human ever. A rattlesnake might be keeping your Pro V1s company for the rest of their days. This is stunning scenery, capable of leaving the most cynical hacker open mouthed.
Paiute Wolf is just a far enough drive away from the Sin City hustle that it's likely the top, high-end course you can easily get on last minute in the Vegas valley. It also might be the best of them all.
Also known as Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort - Kwetoo-Unuv Course.

17th hole "island green" Paiute Wolf Course Photo submitted by RockinDoc on 10/05/2012
A scenic, challenging course
A very scenic setting. A true desert course. All good things to say about this course, other than pace of play. To be fair, unbeknownst to me at the time of booking, it was NCAA basketball weekend, and was told at the course that there are plenty of college and alumni folks who are on the course, and pace may be slow. Round took 5:20...
Other than that issue, really a pretty course, and quite challengine. Well Manicured. Would like to play again when not during 'college' time, and play at a normal pace (probably about 4:00 - 4:15 total).
Wolf Course
Awesome layout and playing conditions! The island green 15th hole is pretty intimidating from the back tees! The course offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
Nice golfing
I played for the first time in Vegas and I would say that my experience was very good. I cannot compare with other golf courses in the area but I would recommend this golf course. It is only 30 minutes drive from Vegas strip which was convenient.
Windy
Course has a great layout
Greens are slow especially playing TPC Las Vegas 2 days prior
Usually quite windy but on our round winds were gusting to 25-30 mph
Made for an interesting day
At least get experience with playing in significant winds
Beautiful but Long
Played the Wolf course in very windy conditions. Course was long, tough, and greens that were fast and rolling nice. A very scenic and challenging course. Great staff and amenities. Bring your A game (or at least B+).
Always great
everything was a good as I remember. great layout, good conditions. some of the staff need to be a little more guest friendly!!!!
Slow play
My only complaint about the course is there are no marshall's to be found. Our twosome played behind a very slow threesome and though there was 1-2 holes open in front of them(maybe more), they would not let us play through and no one from the course was there to help move things along. Other than that, the course was magnificent!
This course has great features
Fabulous Course but it was very windy.
Had a blast!
Windy area.!!
Worst wind I have ever played in But a great course.
Tough Set-up....Firm hard greens.
Windy sunny warm day for golf. Course was in good condition with the exception of many ball marks un-repaired on the greens. That seems to be typical of the tourist golf courses here in Vegas. Greens very firm and failed to hold shots to them, made it impossible to get the ball close to the pins from many locations. Extremely challenging pin placements. Starters friendly. Note: If it's windy in Vegas it will be twice as windy at Paiute.
The course was enjoyable to play
Liked the layout was looking for elevation changes being from the midwest.Played midmorning pace was good.Wind picked up to about 20 mph but starter said that was normal
Too Slow
We are sent to the first tee right on time for a 12:32 tee time, only to find two other foursomes already waiting to tee off. GREAT! 5-7 minutes between each shot and one or two groups on each par 3. What a nightmare. As the sun disappeared over the mountain tops at approximately 5:30PM I knew we had 15 or 20 minutes of light. We were on the 14th hole. As the shadows moved up the eastern range we played the island hole barely in the light, and finished in total darkness the 17th and18th. Good thing we are straight hitters.
Incredibly slow round, average course
Was in town for golf vacation with friends. Scheduled a time at Paiute Wolf based on online reviews. Course condition was decent but not great. Biggest problem was pace of play. 5 hour 30 minute round. No marshal at all. Starting at hole #4 there were either 2 or 3 groups on every tee box from that point forward. Called Pro Shop on #12 tee to ask if they would send someone to help speed things along. Lady at Pro Shop very indifferent and completely unsympathetic. Marshal showed up on hole #15, said "I found the problem! I've asked them to speed up". I expressed frustration that he only came because I called Pro Shop - he said "Well it would have helped if you would have called sooner." At end of round, attendant at cart return said, "Yeah, they scheduled way too many people today". Miserable experience for an average course. Too many excellent options close by. Won't be back.
Beautiful Course in good winter condition
Course was in good condition for January, and the greens rolled really well. Temperature wasn't bad, in the mid-50's, but with the location of the course, it is susceptible to wind, and it was windy which made it cold and difficult. Staff was friendly with a nice clubhouse, although we only got time for one drink after the round as we started just before 1 pm, finished at about 5 PM and they wanted to close and get out of there. Will play again on another trip.
good course for the money
The course was in good shape,, it was windy the day I played, which made the course play harder. They layout was very good, nice dog legs,,, and the island green on number 15 was difficult from the black tees. Fairways were in great shape, and the greens were running about 10, aittle bumpy. I would recommend this course to anyone with handicap under 14., which was the wolf course.
Great layout
Played the Wolf yesterday and it was in perfect shape. This resort is a golfers delight and I don't mind the 30 minute drive. However, it was a 5:05 rnd on a Thursday, which is unacceptable. Last 3 trips here pace of play has been a huge issue, which may lead me to not coming back.
vegas golf
First time playing in the desert. Played at the end of January so it was brisk temp when we teed off at 9:50. Friendly staff from bag drop to check in to cart return. Slow pace of play to start , but picked up by 4th hole, temp warmed up a bit. Finished in 4 hours on a course I had never played before. Course was in great shape, greens were fast, but true. A different experience in the desert, long vistas made judging distance for carry and choosing a line for tee shot a challenge.
Wolf
Awesome course. Used most of my clubs, especially in jcool weather and 20+ mph winds. No complaints of any sort for this gem of a layout.
Don't miss this opportunity
Have played golf at some of the top courses in the world and I wouldn't miss the opportunity to play any of the Paiute courses. Outstanding staff from the minute you call for tee times to the day you drive in and finish your round. Entire staff went "above and beyond" for our group and am excited to return many more times. Tell them "Aquaman" sent you and you're sure to get a smile! What a place!
One of the best courses around for the $$
Had a great day of golf, the course was in great condition and the location was unbelievable. Greens were well maintained and tee boxes were perfect. Very challenging layout with tough pin positions.
