Whirlwind Golf Club - The Devil's Claw Course

Played Devils Claw on a 4 day trip to Scottsdale from home in N. Myrtle Beach. Conditions were really good, from tee boxes to fairways to greens and rough. Very playable, some challenge but also good wide open fairways. Loved the service.

Very playable course. The greenest course I've played in Phoenix in the summer. Course was soft in front of greens.

Had a great time playing this course. We played Cattail last week, and think it is nicer than Devils Claw.

The course is in great shape, greens are firm, but in good shape as well. This side seems a little tighter than Cattail,but both of them are well worth the money.

I played here for the first time and the course was soggy and wet due to the rains the day before. Many of the bunkers were full of water and the fairways were spongy with some standing water. The cart paths were complete covered with gravel, sand and mud from washouts. The tunnel was full of soupy mud about 3/4 inch deep that I had to walk through. Since I walk, all this matters to me and I did not enjoy walking on all the loose debris and mud on my equipment. The greens were still recovering from being aerated which caused some bumpy putts that didn't allow balls to follow breaks. All in all, things could have been worse, but it's enough for me to put bad taste in my mouth based off my first experience.

We had so much fun on this course!! Can't wait to play it again!!!

This a classic desert style course. It's forgiving but will bite you if you get lazy and lose focus. It was in very good shape when I played. Summer rates made it affordable ($43-normally over $100). Play it if you get a great price from Golf Now or other source.

It's the summer months so you can't expect a course to be in perfect shape. Main thing for my group was whether the greens had been punched. Once we heard they hadn't been yet we booked our time.

Course is a great layout. You really feel like it's your group and the course. You never see another hole until you get there

Only complaint were the collars of the nearly all the greens were in very rough (no grass present/nothing but dirt) shape. Again, it's summer, so it wasn't too upsetting.

This is one of the best courses I've played. First class all the way, Troon golf is great! Best Gary Pants anywhere. A tee for everyone, very fair but difficult. Greens are great, about 11, and smooth. Bring your best game and enjoy.

Had an out of town guest from Calif. and we had a great time.

I originally booked a tee time for 3, thinking that was all we were going to have with out of town family here for graduation, etc. When a 4th player expressed interest in joining us, I promptly called Whirlwind to add him, but was denied, due to the fact that someone had booked the single spot. There was nothing they were willing to do for us, except move our tee time out 3 hours, which didn't work for our family schedule for the rest of the day... plus we were trying to beat the AZ heat!! I ended up pulling the plug on that round, and going to another course. I was a bit disappointed that there was nothing Whirlwind was able to work out for us. I've heard good things about the course, but I'm not sure about customer service. I understand the single booked the time fair and square, but I'm sure something could've been worked out.

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at The Silvik grille followed by a great round on Devil's Claw.

Lipped out a long birdie putt that would have given me a 79.
