The Biltmore Golf Course
About
The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables sits next to the beautiful hotel, an architectural masterpiece that was modeled after the Giralda Tower in Seville, Spain. Donald Ross designed the course in 1925 and the traditional layout has retained all of its original character. The golf course weaves through a series of canals that used to carry guests along in gondolas. The canals run alongside the lush fairways while towering banyan trees frame the elevated greens. Offering views of the historic hotel from nearly every hole, there are carts available but the golf course is worth the walk. The layout is popular not only for its historic scenery and verdant setting, but also for its playability. Over the years the Biltmore has been host to a number of professional golfers and celebrities ranging from Babe Ruth to Tiger Woods.

Course in poor condition
Understand the course was closed last year but many areas in poor condition. What’s going on?
Where is the Glamour?
Returned to play the Biltmore after a while with a friend visiting from Europe. The excitement and expectations were quite high, since the Biltmore's reputation and history promised to offer us a fantastic golfing day. Unfortunately our enthusiasm was muted on the first tee when we saw the poor conditions of the golf course....Most likely the worst one I've ever seen in Florida.....
After one year being closed course in bad shape
I have played this course many times. This was my first visit since it reopened after a year of being closed to improve the course. The fairways were the worst I’ve ever seen in south Florida. I think they should close the course until further notice. It’s still a great course but the conditions are horrible. I wa ready to ask for a refund. I hope they can improve
Course is in terrible shape
It hasn’t been long since the course was closed and redone but it is in terrible shape with many tee boxes closed or your standing in sand teeing off. Weeds in the fairway and overall just not a very well kept course for the money.
Biltmore restored?
I had not played at Biltmore for a long time and to be honest didn't notice the much touted restoration except maybe on the greens (they were very good). Otherwise it's pretty much the same old course with a higher price & some ridiculous cart rules that only make the pace of pace slower....
Pulled in to play and cancelled my tee time because the couple of holes I could see looked horrible. I thought because of the biltmore name the course would be in good shape....I was wrong. Looks like a $20 course.
Wet, Hot & Humid
First time playing since the renovations. Fairways and Greens in great condition. Tee Boxes still lacking in grass and often the markers are located where there's only sand making teeing off difficult in the wet conditions. Rough is lush making locating balls difficult. Not much roll on the wet fairways making the holes play longer. Would like to play it again when the conditions are drier. The 17th hole has been rerouted and new bunkers added on the left side. With the canal on the right, finding the fairway is difficult otherwise a lay up is necessary because of the carry over water to the green. Aptly it is the #1 Handicap hole. The 18th Green has been redesigned with a more severe complex being 2 tiered and undulating. The left side is lower and like a bowl with a backstop.
poor condition
big money spent on renovation seems wasted; tee boxes unacceptable, poor drainage leads to mediocre fairways, greens good
Bad experience
The course was in poor condition. Looks like they opened the course too early after the refurbishment. The back 9 holes were closed, so had to play the front 9 twice. No warning beforehand about this. The tee boxes look like a plowed field. Difficult to see much course improvement since the changes, except that some of the tee boxes are set further back to lengthen the course. Before the so called improvements to this course it was always the most over priced course in Miami, due to its iconic status. Now the pricing is an insult, even with a cheaper rate on GolfNow. Play Crandon, Miami Shores or Normandy Shores instead.
Terrible T Box
What a terrible experience. First when we get there we are told we could only play the back 9. The T boxes had no grass on the whatsoever. For such an expensive golf course and expectations of playing at the “newly renovated” biltmore I was very disappointed!
Don’t be FOOLED!
This course is atrocious! Using the So. FL GolfPass book the rate is still $82 ($32 is for the cart). Nothing at the course is exceptional & everything is disconnected, from the parking lot (no attendants), to the pro shop, to starter station, to the ice/water cooler. The carts are very plain (no gps, no coolers, etc. & lacked sand/dirt in the divot boxes.). The tee boxes have almost NO grass. The fairways have slightly more, but are very thin and patchy. The rough is mostly just ankle deep St. Augustine lawn grass. The greens are good, but not great. The layout isn’t anything special either. The cups for water were small, thin, clear plastic that held about 12 ounces of water & had no insulation properties whatsoever. So, in the So. FL heat, your ice will melt in about 15 minutes. The on course water stations were simply electric hot/cold water coolers - no ice is available there. The beverage cart appeared at the 9th hole - I paid $7 ($6 + $1 tip) for an Arnold Palmer in a 20 ounce plastic bottle. The on course bathrooms were the lone bright spot - clean & well stocked. The staff was polite, but placed in the unenviable position to apologize for the terrible conditions & ridiculously overpriced greens and cart fees. Play Normandy Shores instead.
Biltmore
Greens are good. Rest of the course is in terrible condition. No grass on tee boxes and lots or bare areas in fairway. Tee boxes are the worst I have ever seen.
Course in rough shape
Not sure what is going on. Boxes are yellow and sanded, fairways are been aired and areas are dirt. The cost is way over priced to what the course offers. Not recommended until areas are green again.
What a WASTE!!!!!
So this course was closed for several months due to course renovations. But to be completely honest, I saw deterioration rather than renovation. The tee boxes are disgusting. The fairways were horrible. The only thing that was OK were the greens. I would not spend another dollar to play at this course with so many better options in town for less. The only thing you pay for here is The Name.
Great venue
Very well maitained course
Friendly staff
Great Setting
Beautiful course in a great setting. One of my favorites.
Excellent challenge
The greens are generally in excellent condition and roll very smooth and true. Some of the tee boxes and the fairways are very inconsistent and can be bare and patchy. The course layout is interesting and a good challenge to all levels. Plenty of water to keep the drives and approaches interesting. Not very long at 6700 from the tips, but the large greens are a good challenge with plenty of slopes.
A great location on the Biltmore hotel site with great amenities and post game services.
