Pinehills - Jones course
Everything was very nice, although the pace was a little slow for the first 9 holes. This forced us to replay the front nine to get 18 in, which we did just in time. We would have only gotten in 14 if we played the back nine.
Birdman
Best course on the South Shore greens are fast fairways in beautifully maintained shape Pace of play a little slow
Excellent Course!!!
This is a fabulous golf course. Its well worth $100 for a round. I had a hot deal on on golfnow and only paid $45 though which is an absolute steal even in October. I've played here about a dozen times now going back three years. The tees, fariways and greens are always in excellent shape. The range is included with your green fees which is awesome. Always good to get lose before the round. If you have time they have great sandwiches at the bar. This place hasnt disappointed me yet and I will definitely be back!
I'll be back
First time playing this course. It is just a beautiful layout, great setting, and first rate conditions. Challenging but fair.
Top notch
Top notch facilities, great amenities, pace of play managed well.
Public Course, Private Experience
Pinehills is one of my favorite golf experiences. The staff is helpful and treat everyone like they are members at an exclusive country club.
The Jones course plays firm and fast. The ball bounds down the fairways and there is plenty of room to hit it. The one concern is that the fairways are plateaus which will repel wayward shots.
The greens are firm, fast, and true. They are really fun to putt and they seem to fall. Some slopes to the greens but nothing too daunting.
This course is one of the best experiences in the state. Regular price of $125 is probably still worth it but you can also get in after 1:30 for $80 which is exceptional value.
Back again
The best public golf courses in the state.Well worth the money
One of the Most Challenging Courses
I play from the blue tees and this course is very tough, in particular the back 9, I think the total yards is like 6700-6800. The starter did a terrible job that day so it was a very slow long round. The course is unforgiving and punishes any poor shots. It’s also windy which just adds to the challenge. The bunkers are positioned in a way that sucks your ball in like a vacuum. The approach shots are very challenging. If you are looking to have some fun and shoot low scores this is not the course to do it. This is the course you play when you want to test your game. But overall it’s a great test of golf and well maintained.
Great course
While the golf course was excellent and the food was spectacular, we were paired with a couple of women who knew nothing about the etiquette of golf. They were constantly chattering and moving carts during our swings, and they lived on the property!. Pace of play was horrendous and playing in the afternoon we must have fixed about 10 ball marks on every green. That being said I would still come again.
Be a member for the day
Unbelievable customer service, everyone is incredibly friendly. They treat you as if you were a member.
Return
These 2 championship layout are the best in the area. Plus a great practice area.
What can I say...always phenomenal
If you follow me on twitter or you have just seen my previous reviews on GolfAdvisor you know how I feel about the Jones course at Pinehills. Both of the courses at this property are two of the best public courses in Massachusetts. The Jones course is an interesting layout , it is tighter than Nicklaus and far more demanding off the tees. Once again the course was in excellent condition from tee to green. The greens were very consistent and they held as well. You can’t go wrong with either course at Pinehills but if you want a bit of a tougher test then Jones is the course for you.
Back again
After many years away the game I'm playing again and pine hills is great golf destinations with 2 championship courses. Just bring your A game. Come check for yourself and you will make return visit just like me
Excellent course/facility
This course is always in tip top shape and the practice facilities are great. Never been to a public course this nice before. Would play here everyday if I could.
Windy day....
Played with three very pleasant members on a blustery cool day. Great pace, and a beautiful and very well designed course. Lovely conditions overall......but
Positioned as the go-to "premium" course with prices to match. Why no turf mix to fix fairway divots (heavy outing play with a few too many hackers?) Why not screen bunker sand for rocks (not pebbles but rocks).
Overall tee to green experience is excellent but could (should?) be improved with little investment of time or money.
Best in Eastern Mass
This really is the apex of public golf on the east coast of Massachusetts
One of the best public courses in the state
Pinehills never disappoints. Both courses are two of the best in the region and I would recommend you play both if you can. the Jones course has a great layout with several elevation changes. It is also a fair course with decent sized landing areas from the tee and some larger greens when you will need to be pin hunting to have a chance at birdie. .
