Great day at PineHills
The Jones course is in great shape as usual. Had a great afternoon round. The staff was great.
Great course, but,
I like the Nicklaus course better than Jones course. However, that being said the Jones course was immaculate and greens were true.
Fair value
Very good value through golfnow, not sure worth upwards of $125. Tee placements seemed on wrong tee boxes occasionally for yardage specified. Would definitely play again with golfnow discount. Overall course in very good shape.
a bit of a dissappointment
4 of us played and we are glad we didn't pay full rate and got a great deal at golf now. condition were great the course was in ok shape , i have Brookside in Bourne and DW course in Brockton, Cape Cod CC in Falmouth, Old Scottland in Bridgewater and a few others , i wouldn't pay full price to play here is overpriced based on condition. a lot of spots had ground on the outer perimeter maybe its just me and my golf partners but for full price it should be plush or pristine, the other courses i mention had been in better shape when i played but i love the layout and the views and i was so glad it only cost me $ 36.00 w/cart , thank you golf now. with condition a strong 7.
Great course but a new player may have a tough time in the Jones course
Very enjoyable round of golf on a top notch course. Pace of play was great and course is immaculate!
Tough Course
The Jones course is demanding off the tee, with many of the fairways crowned as well as greens. The course demands you hit your ball where you're aiming. If you shoot a good score here you've played a good round of golf. The conditions are always great, and the practice facility is the best around. Get there early to take advantage of the driving range and practice green.
Play it!!!
Heard from many people how nice this place is and it is as nice as they said! Worth the extra money for such a great course. Played the Jones 18 and can't wait to play the Nicklaus 18!
One of the best golf destinations in New England
We have been to Pinehills several times over the years and neither course ever disappoints. The Jones course is a fantastic layout with elevation changes, bunkers everywhere and well-placed hazards. It looks like we played it about a week after the greens were aerated so they weren't the best but normally this is a fantastic place to play a round of golf. The practice facilities are top notch as are the pro shop and the restaurant. With a second course design by the Nicklaus group you really can't go wrong at Pinehills. If you're looking for truly great New England golf look no further than Pinehills in Plymouth, MA.
Didn't live up to the hype
Played today and paid $75 weekend fall rate. Very disappointed in the course itself. First of all, when booking tee (booked on website) time 5 days ago, there was no mention at all of aeration. We got there and realized that greens, fringe and fairways were just recently aerated - within last 2 weeks at least. Should have been noted when booking tee time. Understand aeration is necessary, but at least tell me when I'm booking.
Course itself was nothing special. Fairly straightforward holes. Nothing extremely memorable. Definitely did not live up to the hype, in my opinion.
Staff was excellent, starter and pro shop were both really nice and helpful.
I would not play here uring peak season paying $125 +. Crosswinds right down the road and is a far superior golf course. (layout, variety of holes, difficulty). You can tell the whole "private club" experience is something they are good at. All I want in a golf course is fast/true greens and good fairways and rough. If that's what you want - go to Crosswinds down the road.
Good well balanced golf course
The course was in excellent shape....greens, tees, fairways, and bunkers. It is a very fair course to play with generous landing areas but protected greens. Typically of Jones courses, the greens are large, but hitting to the right area is a challenge. The course, based on which tees you select, is not overly long, but will definitely keep your interest. We would play it again
Excellent Shape
Despite the heat wave in the area recently, the course was in excellent shape. The fairways, tee boxes, and greens were all impeccable. The fairways are generous enough, but don't miss them. You will be punished for errant shots off the tee. There are a few blind shots, but not any more than normal. The elevation changes are subtle, but should factor into your club selection. The course is not overly long, even from the tips, but you will use every club in your bag to maneuver around some of the holes. There is a hole-by-hole pin location sheet in your cart, use it. Some greens are massive could provide a 2 club difference on some approach shots.
Beautiful golf course
If you play golf in the Boston area you will hear about Pine Hills non-stop. It's beautiful. Great practice facility, grass tee's, range balls with greens fees. Tough but perfect greens. It's a treat to spend the day there. Next year we'll probably play both courses and make a full day of it. Looking forward to the Jones as a point of comparison.
Cant Wait to get back to Pinehills
Played the Jones course at Pinehills on Sunday Morning around 11. Just an overall great course from the clubhouse to the golf course and staff.
Course has a very scenic layout with some pretty long Par 4's and 5's depending on the tees you play.
Greens had been aerated a couple weeks prior so there were still some puncture holes but definitely did not affect putts to much and you could tell they were getting back to smoothing out.
Driving up to the clubhouse is very nice as well as the locker rooms inside are and bar/restaurant area.
Before you start you get to use all of the practice facilities(Range,Putting green, chipping area, and practice bunker) The only thing I don't like is that you have to hit off the green mats on the range, but that's not a big deal.
Starters are very friendly and organized and offer free bottles of water before your round begins. Also have a cart girl out on the course that was very friendly as well.
For being the beginning of golf season, the course was in immaculate conditions, started out on the back first and could have not been more impressed with the layout. Course has some great views.
Cant wait to come back and play in the summer when the course really greens up and the temps are a little warmer. Will definitely be playing the Jones again and want to get on the Nicklaus course as well!
best public course in mass, again
once again the best maintained/manicured course around an at the fall rate of $60.00 its a deal and a half.
Best course we have played in Massachusetts
We had been looking forward to playing this course all year in 2013 and it was worth the wait. I have played some of the best courses in the state and this is the best of the best. The condition was amazing, the layout fascinating and the staff was great. This is a classic New England course with rolling hills, water elements and great greens. I would recommend this course and its sister course to anyone staying in Boston or on Cape Cod, it is worth the drive either way.
In New England as good as it gets
What can I say about this course other than it's simply incredible! The way you are treated from when you first arrive, the driving range, the course conditions, the pace of play....everything is perfect!
Honestly, this is as close to a private country club experience as you will find! MUST PLAY!!
