Trump National Doral Miami - Red Tiger Course
About
The Red Tiger Course (formerly known as Red Course) at the Trump National Doral Miami is one of five 18-hole courses at the resort. Each golf course offers unique challenges for golfers of every skill level. The Red Tiger Course puts a premium on shot placement as well as strategy. The course features fairways that wind around lakes situated throughout, which serve as water hazards that come into play on 14 holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers that come into play. The sixth and 14th holes have challenging island greens. Trump National Doral Miami, in addition to being home to five courses and a golf school, also has practice facilities including a chipping area and putting green.

Golfer Reviews
Horrible greens
The layout wasn't bad however the greens were burnt out in spots all over the course. It made putting and joke
A little disappointed
Let me start by saying the customer service was top notch. The only problem I have with this course is the quality of the course itself for what you pay. While the course is in good shape ( fairways -mostly good, bunkers-so so, greens- less than expected) it's not what I would call a $150 course. Granted, I got a good deal on golf now, but I would have been ticked if I had paid full price. Don't get me wrong it's a perfectly good course but for the price you pay it's not worth it to me even at $70. I play a course in Nashville that I pay $50-60 and is a good deal better than the red tiger. To me it's more of a $50 at best although you get great customer service that's not what I play for. You pay for the trump name, I guess someone has to help with his presidential campaign :-).
Excellent Course- Hampered by a some remodeling
Trump is doing his thing at Doral, this notable property is going on to the next level of sophistication, class and service. I was lucky to get a good deal and played the course with my father, that was able to play one of his bucket list courses for same green fee of other local golf courses with less glamour.
There was some construction and remodeling going on, but we came for the golf course, and it did not disappoint.
Best Golf ever! Highly recommended
Great Addition to a Great Facility!
So my review is mostly based on having played the "old" version of the Red course at Doral several times in the past. It's really unrecognizable now, in a great way. The Gil Hanse design team and the Trump group did a great job on the redesign, and it's a very memorable and challenging experience. This is in stark contrast to the old Red course which was short and not very memorable.
I was really impressed by the condition of the course - which is right up there with the Blue Monster. No question it's 5 out of 5. Fairways, tee boxes were in great shape. Greens were as well, but very firm - playing conditions are firm and fast overall. A lot of holes you have to bounce it onto the green to hold - and luckily the course is designed to allow you to do that on most holes.
There are a lot of water hazards and bunkers that makes it even more challenging as well.
My favorite holes are probably the Par 5 5th hole and Par 4 15th hole. #5 is a risk/reward par 5 that plays around a large lake. I played it aggressively and only had 150 left. Play it safe, you can have 250 left to a peninsula green. Lots of options! I love courses that allow for creativity. The 15th is a par 4 that also plays around a lake. Bailed out right but still had 160 left to a green fronted by water on the left. You could choose to play it safe since there is a run up to the green if you favor the right side. Again, options!
Lots of variety to the holes as well - a little bit of everything. Can't ask for more than that. Lots of tee boxes for golfers of various abilities. I'm scratch, played from the tips and it was very challenging - #18 is one of the toughest finishing holes out there - almost right there with 18 at the Blue Monster.
Course knowledge will definitely count for a lot my next time back.
Book your tee time on golfnow and you can get a really great deal. Anything under $150 is a great price for this course, relatively speaking. I've paid more for courses that haven't been nearly as nice. Also I played in a little over 3 hrs on a Sat afternoon! I'd highly recommend!
Tough Greens
Course was in good shape. Good layout. What makes this courses difficult are the Greens. Greens don't wholed, bounce over or roll though.
Tough from tips
Good mix of short and long holes from back tees. Greens in great shape. Pretty firm and a lot of character. Played 36 holes for about $200 with Golfnow Hot deal for first 18 holes. Trump even was there and complimented drive of my playing partner on 10th tee.
BATHROOMS are Rare
As a member who has gone thru 3 years of renovations, the condition of all 4 courses are at a very high level of excellence. The staff are first class!
BUT..... beware! By my review title, the lack of restrooms cannot be stressed enough. Seems like a small thing, but it isn't. It's unnerving to have to think about not having drinks of water playing golf in the Miami heat because there aren't enough restroom facilities. Lately, the few restrooms that are available are out of service.
Nice, Really Nice
Fast- both pace of play and conditions. Played Red Tiger course. Lots of construction going on and some confusion around staging area but once on the course things got much better. Red Tiger demands accuracy off the tee. Fairways ran fast and little rough to keep ball from running through fairway in to water on some holes. Pay attention to flyover on GPS. Played 18 holes in 3:40 minutes as threesome behind a foursome. Greens ran true and fairly fast. Staff was courteous in pro shop and staging area. Lots of construction going on as they prep for WGC next month. Only thing keeping me from giving all 5 stars was amount of construction and confusion, disorganization in staging area related to that. Yes, I would play it again!
Great course and staff
Loved the golf course. It is a great one. Challenging but not brutal. It is in great shape except for a couple of holes. My wife and me loved it. The staff could not be any nicer. We will be back.
Not happy
At the end of the 3rd hole we got asked to stop playing because they had to do maintenance. They didn't offer us anything but we will call you and you can restart from the 1st hole (which we did not want to do). I have been there before this time was extremely disappointing and don't think I will ever go back.
Not a good deal.
Course was cart path only due to previous rain, being seniors and not having a non cancellable prepaid reservation we would have cancelled. We were informed on the first tee. We only played some of the holes. The discounted rate was not a good value under these circumstances.
The course is perfect
The course is fantástico , The green are fantástic
We enjoyed the wonderful Golf day. The cource is exdcellent, challanging, the greeens are fast, but managable .
I highly recommend the Trump resort for its environment, the excellent golf you can enjoy. It is challenging enough even the par player.
The challenge of the water hazard , the wind and the exciting greens makes this course one of my favorite courses.
Good course for training sessions
Good course for training sessions, different distances on all par 3's. Course conditions were very good. I enjoyed playing this course.
nice course, some greens being repaired, super friendly staff, no waiting, nice round
Very friendly staff, accomodating, started on time, no waiting at tee, course in nice shape. Some of the greens had patch work,
enough sand and water to be confused with a Florida beach.
at the discounted rate it was worth the hour plus drive to get there. Challenging yet very playable. We played on a Tuesday afternoon which might account for the ease of use.
The Red Course is varied and challenging.
The Red Course is consistent with the reputation of Doral. Varied and challenging. Good quality / price ratio due to the reduction obtained by GolfNow.
Great time, great course
Had a great time at Doral. Played the Red course, which is the lesser of all the courses, but it was in great shape and the staff, grounds, and facility were great. Trump just purchased the resort and even though it was in very good condition, they were doing additional improvements and renovations to it. Loved it and will return.
