Thistle Golf Club - MacKay Course

Outstanding course, scenery and layout in excellent condition. Layout is challenging, but fair for scoring with a few well-placed shots. Greens are fast, but true. Staff was friendly and conscientious. Pro shop was pristine. Course restrooms were outstanding.

Played in under 4 hours on a Saturday. The course is in great condition, as always. Thistle has become my favorite course in the area since I consider it a demanding, yet fair, challenge for golfers of all experience levels.

Greens very fast and hard to read. Fairways wet and spongy. Enjoyed the day.

This course captures the flavour of the true links as well as any on this side of the "big Atlantic hazard". The clubhouse alone is worth the price of admission, with a huge fireplace and a grand timbered structure. A great experience and test drive for a trip overseas,

First time playing the Thistle in sunset beach. Wish I had played it sooner. It is now one of my favorites in the MB area. I will play it every time I come down. Our foursome played the Cameron 9 and Stewart 9. We liked both however the Stewart 9 was our favorite. The course amenities are second to none. The staff from bag drop to maintenance crews were excellent. The greens were perfect and tee boxes were also. The only reason I cannot give a 5 stars is that the fairways had not been mowed in a couple days. In there defense it had rained two days prior and some spots were still wet. Even in spite of that carts were 90 degrees and fairways were playable. Pace of play was 4 hours and 15 mins with a stop at the turn. Food was top notch as well with excellent service. Cant wait to come back and play the Mackay 9.

Course was very soggy after torrential downfall but course was playable and we were offered a chance to come back another day. This is one of the nicest places to play in Brunswick county - definitely an upper tier course

Great course that could be great except bunkers look like litter boxes

Absolutely loved playing this course. Greeted by starter who set the tone for the day, extremely friendly. Immaculate greens, well manicured fairways. My only complaint is the bunkers were not raked from previous days play, did not affect my play, love the layout. Will play again regardless of price.

We had a great day playing an awesome course in Myrtle Beach. With all the rain the course was still in great shape. Greens were slippery but fair and rolled smooth.

What a great place! Played Cameron and Mackay - fantastic layout and course conditions were really good for August. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to allow the Wife and I play as a two-some. Fairways were great and the greens were fast.

Played from the Blue tees today. Play to an 8 hdcp. Was a single that got paired up with a real nice guy from No. VA and a couple from Holland. Course was in great shape. Greens ran well and held the approach. Enjoyed the layout and the playability. Staff was friendly and working hard. Food and beverage was good in the clubhouse and worth the money. I recommend this course.

Everything about thus course was fantastic! Some really picturesque golf holes. Course conditions were top notch. This is my favorite course in the sunset beach area. Priced on the higher side, but you get what you pay for.
