Destroyer at Seal Beach Navy Golf Course

About
The Navy Golf Course Seal Beach is a 27-hole facility that includes the championship Destroyer Course and the nine-hole executive Cruiser Course. The 6,780-yard Destroyer Course presents a challenge even for low handicappers with a slew of hazards coming into play throughout. The small greens have challenging slopes ranging from subtle breaks to dramatic drop-offs. To make them even tougher, you'll find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the edges. The tricky doglegs, which are mostly par 4s, will force you to think carefully about your club selection, and to top it all off, water makes an appearance on almost every hole. It's a long golf course that feels even longer due to the rolling terrain, but it is more forgiving than it seems with long, wide fairways that won't penalize you for being slightly errant.

Do not play week of Oct 2nd 2023
**This is a temporary notification** The course did aerification AND 50% of the course has modified greens which means the "green" is on the fairways. DO NOT PLAY THIS WEEK. I played it on 10/4/2023 and they failed to advise me that most of the greens were modified which I feel is a big misrepresentation.
Bad deputy
I was on my 16th Hole ready to tee off when deputy comes and ruins my shot,,stating that carts are due ,yes there was a three some in front of me but I gave them enough leg room to go faster ,, and the three some were in separate carts ,, that was the only dummer but I’ll definitely play coarse again ,, price was good ,,greens are good for the buck!!

One of the best courses and best staff
Check in is always easy and enjoyable. The staff who are former military are really on point with their customer service. Love playing here it’s just hard to get a tee time. The course is well kept and the driving range is top notch. Pace of play is average but the course layout is great. Definitely recommend thie navy destroyer course.

Fun Course
We are in CA from WA and had to play the course that Tiger grew up on. Staff was friendly and helpful and course was fun to play. Lots of elevated greens making your club selection and ball striking extremely important. Would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to play a course that is great for all levels. Hope to come back and play it on another future trip.

Rude staff member
Staff member in the pro shop was extremely rude and not very helpful. She was very short with her myself and my playing partner with directions for payment and I highly recommend she be transferring out of a customer service position.

Haven’t played this course in 20 years
I was wary of playing this course after such a long time. However I was pleasantly surprised. It was in excellent condition except for sand traps having little ‘sand’. Most of the players I saw were walking which eliminate having to keep up with 3 riders in your group. The POP was about 4 1/2 hours which was fine for a group with 3 walkers. Greens were in excellent condition but some were extremely graded although not very fast.

Great!
It's been since dovis that I've played here. Everything was way more wonderful than I remember. This is a tougher course than it looks from the exterior. Greens are huge and fast, but fair. Fairways have great coverage, and tee boxes were average. Some of the water has returned into the lakes. Not sure if it was from the recent storms or they plan on keeping them filled, but they were nice. This course requires a fair amount of course knowledge and management to navigate successfully. I like that I have to think my way around the course. Had a great time and can't wait to return!
