About
The Navy Golf Course Seal Beach is a 27-hole facility that includes the championship Destroyer Course and the nine-hole executive Cruiser Course. The 6,780-yard Destroyer Course presents a challenge even for low handicappers with a slew of hazards coming into play throughout. The small greens have challenging slopes ranging from subtle breaks to dramatic drop-offs. To make them even tougher, you'll find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the edges. The tricky doglegs, which are mostly par 4s, will force you to think carefully about your club selection, and to top it all off, water makes an appearance on almost every hole. It's a long golf course that feels even longer due to the rolling terrain, but it is more forgiving than it seems with long, wide fairways that won't penalize you for being slightly errant.

Laid-Back SoCal Fun
First time at the course, in from Florida, who knows what you’ll find...but the Destroyer course was a lot of fun! The pro shop staff was welcoming, and found out the course is run by Navy MWR. Most all the clothing was on sale at great prices. The restaurant in the clubhouse was full of good food at great prices with friendly staff; same for the snack shop on the 12th hole (lunch for 2 and snacks for $17).
The course layout had more elevation into the greens than they appeared. Add at least one club if into any sort of wind. The course was aerated about a month ago according to our playing partner, Robin - who is a local and quite the player! - but you couldn’t tell. The greens were a touch soft and slow, but rolled true, the fairways were clean, and the rough was lush and thick.
The pace (4:40) wasn’t what I’m used to (sub 4 hour rounds) but we were a few groups behind a men’s league event.
I look forward to a return visit!

When booking was not advised that two tournaments were going on. On the 12th hole our cart died and it took 15 min to get help.. Not a good day for cust service

Never disappointed.
A little worry about game flow, pace. There are tournaments ahead of us but it doesn’t bother at all. Windy little bit late afternoon but overall course conditions are good. I want to come again definitely.

Shipshape course
Pace was good. No fivesomes here. In general, course was in decent shape. Greens are being punched right now, however. Navy course is orderly and well run. Oddly, on this day there was no starter. Most of the Navy players know what they're doing and maintain a tolerable pace.

Excellent track poor conditions (recently aeriated)
Played once before under ideal conditions and have been trying to get back and finally did treating two of my neighbors and found out after I got there that the greens had been punched and over half of the holes had temporary greens and many of the fairways were also punched, so even though It is a terrific course it played terribly!!! When I booked there was no indication that it had been punched or I would have waited until another date!!! We drove a long way only to be disappointed!!! Plus the concessions on the course were closed so we couldn't even buy a beer or soft drink!!!

Aerating the Course
Worst conditions ever. All greens were temporary, so no real putting. Only 5 fairways were playable. The rest were full of pellets. Only tee boxes were good. So after teeing off, there was not much you could do. Most expensive driving range I’ve ever been on. The course claims there was a disclaimer on Golf Now. I didn’t see it and Golf Now and the course shouldn’t be allowing play.

Outstanding
Wow, what an incredibly fun Sunday of golf at Destroyer. My first time playing there but I was fortunate to have a buddy with me who knew the course well - which definitely helped!
The conditions of the course were outstanding from tee to green. Lush fairways, rough that will (slightly) punish you and really, really true (and big) greens. The layout was fun and challenging with some really lengthy holes from the tips. Wind was definitely in play; especially on the couple of long par 5s ... which both were playing INTO it. 570 is a LONG WAY into strong wind!
I've heard play can be slow but it absolutely wasn't today - we got through 18 pretty quick.
The clubhouse is beautiful with a great little pro shop, friendly and helpful staff and some great food at really reasonable prices.
This is definitely one of my favorite courses in Southern California and I'll certainly be back.

Navy Destroyer in Great Condition
It was a great afternoon of Golf at the Navy course with Clients in from DC. A little windy off and on but nothing to complain about. Everyone had a great time and played well. Course Conditions in very good condition overall and no one complained about anything. Fairways and greens were great. We tee'd off at 3PM and still got done by 7pm.... Can't beat that!!

Navy Never Disappoints!
I play this course whenever I get the chance. Very well maintained and the staff is top notch. Pace of play can get a little slow sometimes, but they have marshals to help out. If you’ve never played this course, I HIGHLY recommend giving it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.
