Destroyer at Seal Beach Navy Golf Course
About
The Navy Golf Course Seal Beach is a 27-hole facility that includes the championship Destroyer Course and the nine-hole executive Cruiser Course. The 6,780-yard Destroyer Course presents a challenge even for low handicappers with a slew of hazards coming into play throughout. The small greens have challenging slopes ranging from subtle breaks to dramatic drop-offs. To make them even tougher, you'll find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the edges. The tricky doglegs, which are mostly par 4s, will force you to think carefully about your club selection, and to top it all off, water makes an appearance on almost every hole. It's a long golf course that feels even longer due to the rolling terrain, but it is more forgiving than it seems with long, wide fairways that won't penalize you for being slightly errant.

Beautiful course !
Went there for the first time, as I heard it is a nice course!
It is a great course for such a great value on the week end. Not easy to book and see why ! but worth it ! Highly recommend.
Excellent Condition
The Navy Destroyer course was in the best condition of any course I've played this year. Fairways like carpet, fast greens with enough contour to keep one's interest. Fast pace of play in the early morning. Going back soon
Hot Deal
Got a Hot Deal for a week out at the Destroyer. Got some friends to play. Greens and fairways were in really good shape.
Great experience
First time playing here but won't be the last. Tip of the cap to the greenskeepers. Greens were an absolute A and fairways a B+. And I'm picky about condition. Tee boxes in good shape, only criticism is there are a couple that could be more level.
Our threesome played in 4 hours even, even though it was moderately busy, so no complaints there either. Good value imo.
Good layout
Played with two nice gentlemen. Fairways are very good balls sits up well. Greens have true roll and some greens have excellent undulations so you need to place your ball below the holes to score well. The front nine has only one par three for a 37 par while the back nine has three par 3s for a 35. The back nine backs up a bit staring on hole #9 with three groups of threesomes.
I understand this is the course that Tiger Wood started golfing with his dad when his dad was in the military.
Good clubhouse I utilized their shower but you need to bring your own soup and towels. Will play it again.
Maybe It Was Me
Not sure if it was because it was Friday or the Long Beach Open or just me. I had to walk off after 8 holes as slow play destroyed me when I approached #9 with 3 groups waiting. I don't recall how long it took to get there exactly, likely the three hour mark. Maybe it was just me not being mentally or physically ready for that kind of a round. The breakfast in the club house was fabulous and the practice facilities were great. I will prolly try again some day when it appears there is less of a backlog for the course.
Good course definitely for the price

Definitely recommend this course
Awesome Course....
Played a Hot Deal this afternoon. Course is in great shape. A few dry spots on the fairways but it’s understandable considering it’s Summer. Greens are a bit spotty but rolled better than average. Problem with the course is slow pace of play. Too many high handicappers insisting on playing blue tees. This course plays too tough for a high handicapper to play blue: plenty of doglegs, trees, and 10-20 mph winds.
Great Local Course at a Great Value
The Navy Destroyer course is in terrific shape with some very interesting holes. It's a very good challenge for the mid-handicapper with some long holes. It's a really nice track in very good shape. A couple of quirky holes aside, it was fun to play. My only objection was the pace of play - which is mostly do to the golfers and not the course. The day I played the weather was exceptionally hot and added stiff wind late in the day around 4PM so that made it more difficult. Bring your own water and ice chest, very little water on the course, and no cart persons bringing refreshments. The only opportunities are on Holes 9 and 11 which are at the Snack Shack. Otherwise, a great experience, I will play the course many times going forward.
POP
It took 5 hours to play which was unusual. Prior rounds were 4:00 to 4:15. Usually the marshalls go a good job of keeping groups moving. Holiday??
Nice
Good course maintenance and conditioning. Always a pleasure to play this course because of the care given to keep it in good shape.
Nice day on the course.
First time playing this course. 3:15 tee time, finished with plenty of daylight left. Wind was on and off, not bad.. Friends have played this course many times and gave me suggestion on where I should hit it. Will play the course again.
