Golfer Reviews
Best Course in Brunswick County
We played the McKay/Cameron courses. Nice clubhouse, course in great shape, pace of play was 4 hours with 10 min interval tee times. Greens in great shape. It just cost a little more to go first class.
Nice course and a great price
The course is in great shape, I was able to get out as a solo and played in 3:20 with a rain delay. The tee boxes and fairways were fantastic, greens were also fantastic but very slow. Other than that I’d give it a 9/10 would definitely play again
Beautiful Course!
My family and I played this course for the very first time. The fairways and greens were in perfect shape, but the views were gorgeous, too! This course is very kind to the ladies, and we appreciated that, because we've played so many that might shorten the distance but have impossible uphill tee boxes. We will definitely play this course again and again!
Fantastic Experience!
Group of 5 of us played for the first time - 1 scratch golfer, 2 ladies and 2 12+ handicap. It was a great course for all levels. Even though it was a very challenging course, it was very friendly for the ladies tees. The staff were very helpful directing recommended shots on certain holes. We will definitely play this course again!
Great layout
This is my second year in a row playing the Thistle at the end of my trip to the area. Played the Mackay and Cameron 9s. The Stewart 9 is currently closed for regrading the greens. The Cameron 9 is the only 9 I have played twice. And it is definitely the most playable of the 3. I shot significantly better on that side both years that I’ve played here than the other side. However, it is also probably the least interesting side. Not that it’s bad. It’s just not as different I would say as the other 2. It was my first time on the Mackay 9. Its greens were redone last summer. And it’s a great 9 holes with a really challenging layout. I will say you could tell a difference in the greens between the 2 sides that were redone at different times. All in all it is a wonderful place to play. I would try to score a deal or hot deal or something. Bc they are asking north of $150 for a tee time. And I don’t feel like it’s worth that. But if you can find a price closer to the $100 mark it’s def worth it.
Always on the list
Whenever we come to the area we make sure that The Thistle is on our play list. It didn’t disappoint this year. Beautiful course and amenities. Greens were in excellent shape. Fairways were a little sparse in places, though still nice. A little pricey though worth it.
Thistle great as ever
It's airways a great day at The Thistle. Awesome layout and conditions.
Great course but bumpy greens
Course conditions were fair but the greens were as lumpy as mashed potatoes. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH $200.00+.When you pay that price you expect the greens to roll somewhat true. We have played this course many times over the years. This was the first time that it disappointed.
I loved this course
Right when you pull up to the clubhouse, you know you made the right decision picking a golf course. The clubhouse is one of the nicest that I’ve seen. Of the three courses, I played Cameron/Stewart. I truly enjoyed the layout & challenge the course offered. The practice facility is pristine and includes unlimited practice balls. The golf carts are top notch, very comfortable seats. Next time we are in town to visit, I will definitely return to play the third course, Mackay. Thistle is a treat!
Great track
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff. The range was in great shape to warm up. The course was in excellent condition. We played McKay first then Cameron. McKay was in a little better condition but both were great.
