With the U.S. Open set to take place at Pebble Beach later this month, it's good to see many other public courses around NoCal, from San Francisco proper to Napa and the Monterey Peninsula, are earning high marks right now from golfers. Northern California
No. 48: Bayonet at Bayonet and Blackhorse is a fantastic value option minutes from Pebble Beach. Courtesy of Bayonet/Black Horse G.C. Pebble Beach is the center of the golf universe in June. But even if the U.S. Open is hogging all the tee times at the resort, there is plenty of golf nearby and some is even quite affordable. As the south gets hot and humid, this cool coastal climate is a joy to play in and the golf culture in many parts is aces. Bayonet/Blackhorse is a great option near Pebble Beach, while a little farther away, GremlinGolfer had this to say about Pasatiempo:

Massachusetts
It's a great time to be a New Englander. Massachusetts courses are rounding into form while the Boston Bruins make another run for the Stanley Cup. As for the top golf courses right now, leading the breakaway is the 36-hole PineHills facility home to Jack Nicklaus and Rees Jones courses. Granite Links, a favorite outside Boston, is also earning high marks.

New Jersey
The courses in New Jersey have been on a tear lately on Golf Advisor and recent months have continued. In Atlantic City, Seaview's Bay Course is in the spotlight as the host of the LPGA Shoprite Classic presented by Acer. Central North Carolina
From Charlotte to Pinehurst there are some excellent resort and daily-fee picks to choose from all delivering excellent value at the moment. Lonnie Poole is a notable collegiate course. Central Oregon
The high desert of Bend is chock full of great options and Sunriver Resort is a great place to start. If your game isn't quite in midseason form for the Crosswater Course, start with the Woodlands. Juniper Golf Club is a standalone daily-fee option in Redmond also earning high marks for value.

Lower Michigan
The courses in lower Michigan have gotten a head start on their more well-known resort neighbors to the north. Closer to where more Michiganders live and work, the golf is often a little more affordable, but many still deliver excellent rounds. That's particularly true from Grand Rapids to Lansing and Ann Arbor, where courses like Pilgrim's Run, MSU's Forest Akers West and Pierce Lake are earning strong marks. Lake Geneva
Wisconsin is stacked with excellent golf, thanks in part to some new development, but in Lake Geneva, an easily accessible destination for Milwaukee and Chicago golfers, Grand Geneva is setting the pace with two courses, the Brute and Highlands. Each course can be played in the $80-100 range, far less than some of the more nationally-recognized resorts like Kohler and Sand Valley.

Brandon, I'm sorry but Bayonet/ Blackhorse at $145 to $250 and Pasatiempo at $295 to $310 is not quite affordable to the average Joe golfer. Yes there are courses that can be much more affordable in the area, but your really have to go towards the North Bay area to make it manageable.
