Power Rankings: Best trips to take in June

What your reviews are telling us are the best rounds and values right now.
The Woodland Course at Sunriver Resort in central Oregon.

June is here, and with it comes the calendar year's longest days. It's the best time of year for those golfers in search of unlimited golf with the chance to play 36 holes (or more!).

We've analyzed your reviews from the past two months - over 28,000 around the globe - to see which courses are earning the highest ratings at the moment. We've grouped the top-rated courses into 10 destinations from coast-to-coast that we think will deliver an excellent golf trip and present great value. Our community of reviewers can help find the courses and resorts that are trending in the right direction right now.

With the U.S. Open set to take place at Pebble Beach later this month, it's good to see many other public courses around NoCal, from San Francisco proper to Napa and the Monterey Peninsula, are earning high marks right now from golfers. If you plan to catch the action at Pebble be sure to bring your clubs, too.

Top 10 destinations for June based on recent Golf Advisor reviews

  1. Northern California
No. 48: Bayonet at Bayonet and Blackhorse is a fantastic value option minutes from Pebble Beach.

Pebble Beach is the center of the golf universe in June. But even if the U.S. Open is hogging all the tee times at the resort, there is plenty of golf nearby and some is even quite affordable. As the south gets hot and humid, this cool coastal climate is a joy to play in and the golf culture in many parts is aces. Bayonet/Blackhorse is a great option near Pebble Beach, while a little farther away, GremlinGolfer had this to say about Pasatiempo:

Legendary, awesome, beautiful, stunning, relentless, pure, must-play, underrated.

  9. Lower Michigan

The courses in lower Michigan have gotten a head start on their more well-known resort neighbors to the north. Closer to where more Michiganders live and work, the golf is often a little more affordable, but many still deliver excellent rounds. That's particularly true from Grand Rapids to Lansing and Ann Arbor, where courses like Pilgrim's Run, MSU's Forest Akers West and Pierce Lake are earning strong marks. Southwest Michigan's Gull Lake View Resort, home to six courses, offers one night, two-round stay-and-play packages for as low as $130/pp. (Details.)

  10. Lake Geneva

Wisconsin is stacked with excellent golf, thanks in part to some new development, but in Lake Geneva, an easily accessible destination for Milwaukee and Chicago golfers, Grand Geneva is setting the pace with two courses, the Brute and Highlands. Each course can be played in the $80-100 range, far less than some of the more nationally-recognized resorts like Kohler and Sand Valley.

Brandon, I'm sorry but Bayonet/ Blackhorse at $145 to $250 and Pasatiempo at $295 to $310 is not quite affordable to the average Joe golfer. Yes there are courses that can be much more affordable in the area, but your really have to go towards the North Bay area to make it manageable.

Bayonet/Blackhorse dynamically prices pretty aggressively. Can be caught closer to $100. At $100-150 I think it's one of the better values in relations to its neighbors I've seen.
