Cobblestone Park Golf Club - Black Course
About
Formerly known as the University Club, Cobblestone Park Golf Course may have changed names but it still offers one of the best courses in the Midlands. There are a total of 27 holes, which are divided into three distinct nines. The holes stretch across more than 240 acres of rolling hills. The Black nine is the longest of the three and naturally the most challenging as well. A variety of elevation changes come into play, ranging from subtle to dramatic. The golf course even features some of the highest points in Richland County, providing scenic views throughout your round. There are strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout and mature oaks and pines lining the fairways but the challenges are balanced by wide landing areas that are nice and inviting.

Features
Great course, good layout with several challenges. The greens were in great shape and fast. This is one of the best courses in the Columbia, SC area.
tough hill course
Lots of blind and uphill shots. Some unfair fairways that slope into the hazards. Great green, but very veryfast but true. Not for the out of shape golfer. Very hilly.
Enjoyable round
Quality course. Only two holes are alike- otherwise each hole was unique and fair, but challenging. If I lived closer it would be one I'd play often. Hope to go back again.
Worst managerd course in midlands
I've played this course many times. The last 4 times I've played have been awful. I've walked off the course twice once after two holes. The first time they put my group in between what appeared to be a lunch lady golf tournament. At the second hole there were 6 carts sitting on hole number 2 of old ladies. Nothing against old ladies but the course should have let us know before we drove an hour to get there or they should have opened the other 9 holes. The never have the three courses open at the same time. The second time the tee times were 20 minutes behind for no reason and the check in guy put two onesomes ahead of us. He didn't put them together he let them each go out ahead of us on their own. The cart guys always just watch us carry our clubs instead of bringing us a cart. The staff is the worst. They have no idea how to manage a golf course. I've never complained or walked off a course in my life except cobblestone numerous times. I try to go back and give them the benefit of the doubt but it's always the same. We are experienced golfers all less than 10 handicaps and play all over the country with never a complaint except at cobblestone. The rounds last over 5 hours because of mismanagement not slow play. But the course is beautiful and the superintendent is great. It's a shame how this course is managed. It needs a whole new staff who actually know how to run a golf course.
Great course in Columbia...
Really impressed with course condition as well as the whole set up. Up scale in Columbia....
My Favorite Course in the Columbia Area!
This course is always in great shape and challenging enough without being impossible for beginning golfers like myself. It is beautifully maintained and the new clubhouse makes me want to join! I cant say enough good things about it!
COBBLESTONE
The course was in great shape. Staff was friendly and the people I met while playing were nice. This was my first time playing here and I was not disappointed. Pace of play was average. Challenging course but well worth playing. Best greens I have seen since moving to South Carolina in July.
Great Day to Play
The greens were soft and consistent from one hole to the next. When i hit the sand, the sand conditions were great. Meaning the sand was not hard as a rock. With 27 holes we didn't have anyone playing on top of us or slowing us up. That is the most important thing to me, get into a pace and stay on that pace. I will be playing this course again real soon.
Thank you for your excellent 5-star review! We're happy that you enjoyed all aspects of your round from the course conditions to an optimal pace of play. That's what we strive for! Please come back and play again soon!
Great Course
Highly recommend this course.
Thank you for your recommendation! Please come back and see us soon!
Cobblestone Park is great club with three 9-hole courses
Played here for the first time as a 2-some. Very well manicured course, we played the Garnet-Black from the member tees. Course conditions were excellent and great value when we played at 9:33 am for under $40 on a Thursday. Carts didn't have GPS but you pin locations for all 3 courses and course is well marked.
Thanks for your review! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed our course conditions. Please come back and play again soon!
Love the rolling terrain
Greens roll true, a little fast but not ridiculous, the rough is more forgiving then I like, very enjoyable
Thanks for the great review! Happy to hear that you enjoyed our greens. Please come back and play again soon!
Very nice course
My friends, and I enjoy playing here. The course is always in very good shape, and never too crowded .
Thank you for the review! Please come back and play again soon!
nice course
A bit pricey & full of themselves, cart paths are very rough but make no mistake, a very nice course with excellent, heavily contoured, fast greens. Some bunkers in poor condition due to recent heavy rains, Pace of play was only real negative. Due to players not organization. Folks seem to all need 5 practice swings and a joke before each shot. 4:50 to get around
Thanks for your feedback! We're happy that you had an overall positive experience despite a pretty slow pace of play compared to what we normally maintain. Please come back and play again soon!
Great course in excellent shape
The layout was excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful, the greens were in great shape. I birdied 18...the only thing I can complain about was that it was 95 degrees outside...but it was August 2nd :-).
We're thrilled that you had an awesome time and that you enjoyed our staff. Please come back and play again soon!
Cobblestone Park
Excellent course. A must play!!!
Thank you! Please come back and play again soon!
Just a great layout
If you have not played this you need to. The course is hilly and just beautiful. So many cool holes and just awesome. It will try your putting skills because greens run fast and have lots of slopes. P. B. Dye design!
Thanks for the stellar review! Please come back and play again soon!
Nice course, as expected
Greens were fast and rolled true, however the majority are too hard. It's not impossible to have fast greens that also hold shots. I get it the members want fast greens so they're mowed often, but some wedge shots didn't leave a ball mark or hold as much as they should've. Other than this, well kept course. Nice practice facility, solid tee boxes and fairways.

Everything about this outing was great. Drove from Matthews to Blythwood (very easy drive) and it was definitely worth it. Takes about one hour. Course was in great condition. Without reservation I recommend Cobblestone Park.
We are proud to hear that our course was worth your commute! Come back and play again soon!
Play Here!
I was blown away by this course. First of all it was dirt cheap, I played >$30 via golf now for 18 holes with a cart. When you arrive you are met at your car with a cart, a very nice touch. The course is very well maintained. Greens were fast and ran true, just what you want. The layout of the course was also excellent. A few challenging shots, but most of the time there is a generous safe area to hit to. I will definitely play this course again if I return to the Columbia area.
Thank you for your 5 star review! We are so glad to hear that you will be back, looking forward to seeing you again!
Great Venue
This was first time I played this course since it went public and still is tip-top shape. Still has that private club feel. The greens were exceptional and extremely fast for a public course. The course was very crowded as it was the first Saturday were the weather was perfect and the courses finally greened up. Nevertheless, because the course offers three nines I was able to sneak off the gold course at 2:45 which no one one was on. Was able to finish by 7:30
Thanks for the awesome review!! We love your feedback, and are glad that you enjoyed your time with us and had a pretty quick round even with it being one of our busiest days. Please come back and play again soon!
I will give it another try and thank you for your response. I have never left a bad review before but after 4 times in a row I felt compelled too. I'm sure no one does anything on purpose but there is a right way to run a golf course and that hasnt happened there for me and my friends who are all avid golfers. Hopefully someone will correct a few things. Thanks
