Thistle Golf Club - Cameron Course

Played Thistle for the first time on a brutally hot Sunday morning. So not real busy. And the 4 some the paired us all up to make played in decent time. Didn’t wait and didn’t get pushed. Played the Stewart 9 first. It’s a great and challenging layout. A lot of sand and water. Very interesting and tough. It would help to have played it before to know some of the lines. A tough 9 if you aren’t hitting the driver good. And I wasn’t. Just a lot of very uncomfortable tee shots. The greens were very soft. They are redoing the greens on the 3 9s and Stewart hasn’t been done yet. Cameron was not as interesting a layout. Less sand and water. Flatter. The greens had been redone last summer. And were much firmer and faster. I actually enjoyed the greens more on Cameron. The Mackay 9 is currently closed to redo those greens and they said they should be reopen around the first of October. Overall. I really enjoyed the layout and thought it was in good shape. I was glad I snagged a hot deal on Golfnow for $103. The going rate is in the $150 range and I didn’t think it was worth that. I’d def play again if I could get another hot deal.

My 20 year old son and I played on a hot Monday morning paired with a couple other guys. Staff was excellent and conditions were great.

Course great, course was doing some limited maintenance, very hot day so appreciated rapid pace of play, squeezed it in under 4 hours, putting green was being renovated but range open with complimentary balls.

Third year playing and each time was better than the previous. Great staff, dang good grill (porkroll sandwhich mmmmm) and drink menu. The course was outstanding. Great challenge from the first tee. Seriously my favorite course I have played. Thanks yall!

I’ve played this course seven or eight times and the greens are always very good. Wonderful layout with a spectacular clubhouse and restaurant. The carts are second to none and very high-tech with GPS and comfortable seats. Unfortunately, we had a slow group in front of us with no one in front of them yet the Ranger did not suggest to let us play through as a twosome or have them pick up their pace of play. I will be back. I always look forward to playing this course.

This golf course is in great shape. The ball sets up nicely in the fairway, and the greens are very fast. A couple of fairways had some brown spots, but I just moved them out of the areas that needed repair in the fairway. Watch for alligators!

I would definitely play it again.

Second time playing at Thistle Golf Club, the first two years ago. One of the best courses I’ve had the opportunity to play, excellent design/layout and all employees (bag drop to cart transfer, pro shop, and the Pot Bunker Pub/the 28th hole) were very hospitable (professional & friendly)! Definitely recommend!

Sharpen up on your bunker skills because there are well placed bunkers everywhere. Beautifully manicured golf course with friendly staff. Shooting 77 at 62 years of age was challenging from the blues but satisfying. Go Play!

The staff was fantastic and friendly. The condition was excellent and green speed was quick but very playable

Exceeded expectations. Some of the nicest staff I’ve dealt with at a public course. Course was in great condition and challenging enough. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in the region.
