Wolf at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
About
Forget everything you've heard about that gentler, kinder Pete Dye at Paiute. When you step onto the Wolf Course at the Las Vegas Paiute Resort, the legendary architect with the cold hacker heart returns. And then some. The newest of the three Paiute courses, comes in at a staggering 7,604 yards.
And it's an isolated 7,604 yards. You don't only get lost in your round here. You could almost literally get lost in the desert with a few wrong turns off the cart path. Drives that go flying off target deep into the desert areas are unlikely to found by another human ever. A rattlesnake might be keeping your Pro V1s company for the rest of their days. This is stunning scenery, capable of leaving the most cynical hacker open mouthed.
Paiute Wolf is just a far enough drive away from the Sin City hustle that it's likely the top, high-end course you can easily get on last minute in the Vegas valley. It also might be the best of them all.
Also known as Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort - Kwetoo-Unuv Course.

17th hole "island green" Paiute Wolf Course Photo submitted by RockinDoc on 10/05/2012
Great Round
Very impressed with this course. Excellent layout. Greens were firm but in great shape. Would absolutely play it again
As usual, always gorgeous!
All year long, these are consistently the most beautiful, plush, green courses in Las Vegas. I have never been disappointed with the presentation. Also, this time, the wind was almost non-existent, which is a rarity out there, so it was fun being able to attack the pins with reckless abandon. 2 things happened this time that I've never experienced at Paiute: The pace of play was horribly slow; 4:50 for a foursome. We waited quite a bit, so it wasn't us. The last time I played here, in the afternoon, I was a single and flew through the Wolf in about 3:00. So, hopefully that was just bad day and not the new norm. The other thing was the greens. Although beautiful, slightly sandy, quick, and fair, putting-wise, they wouldn't have held a 20 lbs brick. They were terribly firm, which is something I've never experienced before out there. So, need more water!!
Outstanding Course
This is my second time at Paiute Wolf and it is fantastic. The greens are incredible and the condition of the course is perfect. Hats off to the staff and maintenance teams at the Paiute Resort.
Very Slow
We had a later tee time ane were worried about finishing. However, they got us off a little early. However, we were waiting on every shot. The marshall came by and apologized for the pace of play but it never improved. With that said the course was great and I would recommend it but be prepared for a slow round.
Great Course Outside Las Vegas
This is my groups new favorite course to play when we travel to Las Vegas. It's not far from the strip, it's affordable, and it's in great shape,
We actually played snow mountain.
There was a little mix up on my reservation on GolfNow, we were booked o both wolf and snow, but decided to play Snow Mountain. The course was in great shape, pretty challenging but very playable. I'm playing in a 80 man tournament here in April so this was a little pre-tourney scouting. Really looking forward to a great event at this really nice course. We will be playing all three courses.
A must play
This was the first of 6 courses I played in a week and I started with the best. The wolf course is long, difficult, in amazing condition for the season. It is a long drive north but you can tell that on this reservation they care about golf. Having 3 courses and this one being in such amazing shape for the time of year, I was blown away. Especially how every other course I played (5) the rest of the week was a complete disappointment compared to it. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all in stellar condition. Staff was on point. Next time I am in Vegas I will play all 3 courses. This course has an island green par 3 that from the backs plays almost 200 yards. Take that TPC Sawgrass! Play this course, but be real, play the correct tee box. This is more like a PGA style course than any that I've played in Vegas other than TPC Canyons.
Paiute Wolf
An enjoyable course for all skill of golfers. I would highly recommend playing all three courses at Paiute!
Weather
Caught an extremly windy day and below average temperature which took some of the fun out of playing a beautiful venue.
Terrible Course Management
This was our first time golfing in Las Vegas. The course setting and weather were beautiful, but everything else that day was terrible! We arrived early for a 12:45 tee time and found the driving range packed so decided to have a bite to eat in the restaurant. Due to very slow service (& mediocre food) we had to rush to the 1st tee only to find we were the 3rd foursome in line waiting to tee-off. We eventually hit our tee shots 20 minutes late after being assured by the starter that they were right on schedule. We had to wait at each hole as the foursome in front of us had no appreciation for golf etiquette or pace-of-play. We complained two times on the front nine to the course marshall who promised to take action, but he never approached the group in front of us. It was so bad that on the 11th hole there were 3 foursomes behind us waiting to hit as we waited for the group in front of us to clear the green. We again complained to the marshall on hole 13 only to be told that there was a group of four foursomes over six holes ahead that were holding up all golfers behind them. Since the sun was beginning to set and it had already taken over 4 & 1/2 hours to complete 13 holes, we quit and went back to the clubhouse. When we complained we were told that their third 9 hole course was wide open yet they let all golfers on our 9 holes suffer! Oh, I failed to mention that the greens had been sanded and management refused to discount our rounds!
Best Around
We love to play at Paiute when we are in Vegas. The staff is wonderful! And the golf is great, too!
Forward tees are much appreciated!
Awesome day of golf
I played both the Wolf course and Snow Mountain course and both were in excellent condition. My concern of making it through 18 holes were unwarrented. Pace of play was excellent finishing both rounds with a bite of lunch at the turn in about 8hrs 20 minutes. Beautiful views and friendly staff . I would definitely play here again the next time we are in Vegas.
Happy birthday!
We played this course for my son's birthday. While it was challenging the views, and course layout were outstanding. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this course...be careful on the island green!
Tough test for your short game!
All the Las Vegas Paiute golf courses are superb- the conditioning, perfect bunkers, the secluded setting... it's all good. Unfortunately I picked a day with winds from 13 - 23 mph and gusts to 30 to play, so the course went from challenging to guess and pray for a wannabe 9 handicapper like myself.
My score and weather aside, I'd say this is a very challenging course- the fairways are wide enough, but some of the greens are not easily viewable and a decently struck shot can oftentimes still not find the surface. Then you find out what gives the Wolf its teeth; surrounding many of the plateau-type greens are severely contoured collection areas which can force you to chip from awkward lies to uphill greens and of course, if you missed a tucked flag you'll be short-sided as well. That's not to say it's not fair, but it will be quite demanding for the average golfer.
I think the Snow Mountain course is the prettiest course, but I'll go back again and face down the Wolf. Do them both if you can- it's a great double play!
Favorite hole- #8, 168 yd par-3. Wow! IMO an even better hole than the island-green 15th.
Nastiest hole- #14, 438 yd par-4. An absolute killer.
Wolf Eats your Lunch
The weather was horrible, rain, cold, 25 MPH winds. If I wasn't in a tournament I would not have played so take that into account for this review. I've played in some back weather but nothing that made me shiver while standing in the fairway even with rain gear and warm clothes. Of course having to wait 20 to 30 minutes on every hole didn't help. Six and a half hours standing in the rain and wind.
The course was well maintained. It's not a walk in the park but it's not that tough.
Would have loved to play it in good weather.
Howling Wolf
Played with three players one from Chicago and two from Canada. We were the first one's off so we made great time 4 hrs. Played from the Black tees no championship available. Would of liked to played the Championship tees, so I will be going back. Greens were nice but hard to read. Less break usually worked. High ball worked better than low shots, unless you played it like Ireland and hit one less club. The best part of it for me was the beauty of the desert no Condo's, houses, or anything just beautiful desert with cacti everywhere.
Wolf Is Worth The Drive
Our group of three was fortunate enough to be paired with a local who knew the course. Greens were hard and fast. The island green as the crown jewel of the back 9 and made the trip for me.
What if?
First I would have to say the coarse is absolutely beautiful. The coarse is very well maintained and was a pleasure to play. The problem came in the form of no supervision or marshals to be found. We started our round at 12:19 and had to leave due to darkness at 4:15. Play was at a snails pace and everyone we spoke with was equally disgusted with the slow play The lack of a range marshal to move things along would have been greatly appreciated by all of us. When we went to the Pro Shop to voice our concern we were brushed off with a OH WELL that's golf. That's not golf, when it is properly managed. I hope they fix this simply because I would love to play there once again but at some point the management needs to take responsibility for its customers by ensuring the product they offer is delivered.
great value!!
It was wonderful!
I am happy because I know golfnow.com now
and can get a lot of economic prices near me.
Good course
Very nice course. I just cannot see why the course is so much money to play for non-residents.
Greens run good & do not break as much as they look. Play one club short because the ball will release out on the Wolf course.
